AbstractFor the reliable and cost-efficient application of glass fibre polymer
composites in structural applications, knowledge of the damage state of the
material during operation is necessary. Within this work, a structural health
monitoring method based on in-situ electrical capacitance measurements is
presented, which enables damage monitoring in glass fibre reinforced polymers.

AbstractThis paper focuses on the physicochemical changes that happen in cold
mix asphalts during curing, and more specifically, while and after transitioning
to different simulated seasons. Several tests were carried out in order to
better grasp the influence of the weather (temperature and humidity) on the
curing of such materials. The mechanical behaviour of the mix was assessed using
oedometer... hiện toàn bộ
AbstractElectrospinning is a relatively simple technique for producing
continuous fibers of various sizes and morphologies. In this study, an
intrinsically hydrophilic poly(3-hydroxybutarate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV)
biopolymer strain was electrospun from a solution under optimal processing
conditions to produce bilayers of beadless micro-fibers and beaded nano-fibers.
The fibrous mats produced... hiện toàn bộ
AbstractThe interface between polymer matrices and nanofillers is critical for
efficient interaction to achieve the desired final properties. In this work,
block copolymers were utilized to control the interface and achieve optimum
interfacial interaction. Specifically, we studied the compatibilizing effects of
styrene-ethylene/butadiene-styrene (SEBS) and styrene-ethylene/propylene (SEP)
block co... hiện toàn bộ

AbstractConventional carbon fibre laminates are known to be moderately
electrically conductive in-plane, but have a poor through-thickness
conductivity. This poses a problem for functionality aspects that are of
increasing importance to industry, such as sensing, current collection,
inductive/resistive heating, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, etc.
This restriction is of course more p... hiện toàn bộ
AbstractIn this study, the temperature dependence of the carbon/polyamide 410
composite's heat capacity, thermal expansion, density, and thermal conductivity
was investigated. The results demonstrated that the specific heat capacity of
the C/PA410 composite increases with temperature, with major transitions
observed at the glass transition (Tg) and melting (Tm) temperatures. Due to the
presence of... hiện toàn bộ
AbstractWe report the chemical synthesis of
poly(aniline-co-aniline-2,5-disulfonic acid)) and its composite containing
L-hexuronic acid and metallic Ag/SiO2 nanoparticles as a new thermally stable
anionic polyelectrolyte for removing safranin dye. The composite was
characterized by IR, UV, cyclic voltammetry, SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, EDXS and
elemental analyses. Microscopic images exhibited intensified... hiện toàn bộ

AbstractSelf-healing materials can increase the lifetime of products and improve
their sustainability. However, the detection of damage in an early stage is
essential to avoid damage progression and ensure a successful self-healing
process. In this study, self-healing sensor composite strips were developed with
the embedding of a thermoplastic styrene-based co-polymer (TPS) sensor in a
self-healin... hiện toàn bộ

AbstractMultifunctional flexible conductive materials have generated significant
interest in developing future portable electronic systems, including wearable
electronics, implantable devices, and many more. Producing wearable electronics
materials that are dependable in all-weather situations and provide
high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding remains
challenging. "electroma... hiện toàn bộ

AbstractSheet Moulding Compound (SMC) based composites have a large potential in
industrial contexts due to the possibility of achieving comparatively short
manufacturing times. It is however necessary to be able to numerically predict
both mechanical properties as well as manufacturability of parts. In this paper a
fully 3D, semi-empirical model based on fluid mechanics for the compression
mouldin... hiện toàn bộ
