Technology Choice and Capacity Portfolios under Emissions RegulationProduction and Operations Management - Tập 25 Số 6 - Trang 1006-1025 - 2016
David F. Drake, Paul R. Kleindorfer, Luk N. Van Wassenhove
We study the impact of emissions tax and emissions cap‐and‐trade regulation on a firm's technology choice and capacity decisions. We show that emissions price uncertainty under cap‐and‐trade results in greater expected profit than a constant emissions price under an emissions tax, which contradicts popular arguments that the greater uncertainty under cap‐and‐trade will erode value. We fur...... hiện toàn bộ
AN EXAMINATION OF THE INDIRECT PRODUCTIVITY GAINS FROM QUALITY IMPROVEMENTProduction and Operations Management - Tập 3 Số 3 - Trang 153-170 - 1994
Christopher D. Ittner
Recent theoretical work suggests that quality‐improvement activities can yield significant indirect effects through process improvements and reduced factory congestion and confusion, benefits that are overlooked or hidden in most management accounting or cost of quality systems. Using time series data from two consumer durables manufacturing plants, I estimate the indirect productivity ga...... hiện toàn bộ
The Effects of Competitive Environment on Supply Chain Information Sharing and Performance: An Empirical Study in ChinaProduction and Operations Management - Tập 23 Số 4 - Trang 552-569 - 2014
Baofeng Huo, Xiande Zhao, Honggeng Zhou
Information sharing in supply chains has become an important topic over the past decade. This study uses data from 617 Chinese manufacturing firms to investigate the relationships among competitive environments, supply chain information sharing (SCIS), and supply chain performance. The results of structural equation modeling analysis show that (i) international competition is positively r...... hiện toàn bộ
Inter‐Organizational Fit, Relationship Management Capability, and Collaborative Performance within a Humanitarian SettingProduction and Operations Management - Tập 25 Số 9 - Trang 1542-1557 - 2016
Mohammad Moshtari
Donors and governments are increasingly calling for more collaborative relationships between humanitarian organizations (HOs), to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian operations by exchanging information, knowledge, and resources. This study examines the relative efficacy of partners' characteristics (i.e., compatibility and resource complementarity) and partners' rela...... hiện toàn bộ
Channel Conflict and Coordination in the E‐Commerce AgeProduction and Operations Management - Tập 13 Số 1 - Trang 93-110 - 2004
Andy A. Tsay, Narendra Agrawal
A number of factors, including developments in Internet‐based commerce and third‐party logistics, have led many companies to consider engaging in direct sales. Such a company may at once be both a supplier to and a direct competitor of any existing reseller partners (e.g., land‐based retailers), which can result in “channel conflict.” This can have momentous implications for distribution ...... hiện toàn bộ
TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT: A LITERATURE REVIEW AND AN AGENDA FOR FUTURE RESEARCHProduction and Operations Management - Tập 4 Số 3 - Trang 277-306 - 1995
Sanjay L. Ahire, Robert Landeros, Damodar Y. Golhar
Total quality management (TQM) is a revolutionary approach to effective management. The research in TQM has emerged from practical needs of organizations embracing this philosophy, and the literature is mostly conceptual and practitioner‐oriented. There is a lack of sound theoretical framework classifying past efforts and guiding future research. To fill the void, a study of the published...... hiện toàn bộ
Coordination of Supply Chains with Risk‐Averse AgentsProduction and Operations Management - Tập 13 Số 2 - Trang 135-149 - 2004
Xianghua Gan, Suresh Sethi, Houmin Yan
The extant supply chain management literature has not addressed the issue of coordination in supply chains involving risk‐averse agents. We take up this issue and begin with defining a coordinating contract as one that results in a Pareto‐optimal solution acceptable to each agent. Our definition generalizes the standard one in the risk‐neutral case. We then develop coordinating contracts ...... hiện toàn bộ
The Bullwhip Effect—Impact of Stochastic Lead Time, Information Quality, and Information Sharing: A Simulation StudyProduction and Operations Management - Tập 13 Số 4 - Trang 340-353 - 2004
Dean C. Chatfield, Jeon G. Kim, Terry P. Harrison, Jack C. Hayya
We use a simulation model called ‘SISCO’ to examine the effects in supply chains of stochastic lead times and of information sharing and quality of that information in a periodic order‐up‐to level inventory system. We test the accuracy of the simulation by verifying the results in Chen et al. (2000a) and Dejonckheere et al. (2004). We find that lead‐time variability exacerbates variance a...... hiện toàn bộ
Volume Flexible Strategies in Health Services: A Research FrameworkProduction and Operations Management - Tập 13 Số 3 - Trang 230-244 - 2004
Eric P. Jack, Thomas L. Powers
The prevalence of fluctuating demand is increasingly seen as a serious and ongoing issue facing the health services industry. Volume flexibility in a health care setting represents a means to improve service delivery and it allows organizations to leverage their scarce resources for optimal utilization in response to fluctuations in patient demand. This paper develops a research framework...... hiện toàn bộ
Disruptive Technologies and Operations Management in the Industry 4.0 Era and BeyondProduction and Operations Management - Tập 31 Số 1 - Trang 9-31 - 2022
Tsan‐Ming Choi, Subodha Kumar, Xiaohang Yue, Hau‐Ling Chan
In the Industry 4.0 era, automation and data analytics emerge as the major forces to enhance efficiency in operations management (OM). Disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, 3D printing, 5G, Internet‐of‐Thing, digital twins, and augmented reality, are widely applied. They potentially will bring a radical change to real world operations. In this stu...... hiện toàn bộ
