Nonlocal Cubic-Quintic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation: Symmetry Breaking Solitons and Its Trajectory Rotation
Allerton Press - Tập 30 - Trang 387-396 - 2023
P. Sakthivinayagam
Using two analytical methods, we derive exact and more general solutions of the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlocal cubic and nonlocal quintic terms. In the first method, equations are analyzed, and some of their mathematical and physical properties are inferred, which are then used to derive the exact stationary solutions. In the second method, we demonstrate the Darboux transfo...... hiện toàn bộ
Fundamental limits of waves propagating in an inhomogeneous multilayer metal-dielectric medium
Allerton Press - Tập 19 - Trang 228-238 - 2011
B. A. Murmuzhev, R. N. Denisyuk
The dispersion equations have been derived for various types of orthogonally polarized waves in a five-layer dielectric medium shielded by metal screens. The dispersion characteristics of electromagnetically coupled waves propagating in two waveguide dielectric layers, isolated from each other and from the metal screens by separating and intermediate dielectric layers, have been investigated. The ...... hiện toàn bộ
Four-wave mixing spectroscopy of aqueous suspensions of single-wall carbon nanotubes in the ranges of 0.1–10 and 100–250 cm−1
Allerton Press - Tập 19 - Trang 165-170 - 2011
A. F. Bunkin, S. M. Pershin
Distinctive optical properties of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT) are highly sensitive to variations in the environment. Here, we have studied SWNT in aqueous suspensions at a low (less than 0.1 µg ml−1) concentration by four-wave mixing (FWM) spectroscopy in the spectral bands of 0.1 to 10 cm−1 (≈300 GHz) and 100 to 250 cm−1 (3 to 7.5 THz). We directly investigated the hydration layers around...... hiện toàn bộ
Formation of the Reactive Species of Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Carbon Dioxide in Aqueous Solutions under Physical Impacts
Allerton Press - Tập 28 - Trang 103-106 - 2020

A concept is proposed, according to which the water‒air system is an open nonequilibrium system capable of accumulating free energy; the latter can be released under certain weak resonance effects via standard high-energy processes. These processes break chemical bonds and cause formation of reactive species of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.
An enhanced refractive index with suppressed absorption in a graphene nanostructure under external magnetic field
Allerton Press - Tập 25 - Trang 107-113 - 2017
H. R. Hamedi, A. Raheli, M. Sahrai
The dispersive-absorptive optical properties of a weak probe field are investigated based on quantum coherence and interference in a Landau-quantized graphene structure. It is found that an enhanced refractive index with vanishing absorption can be obtained in this structure through proper adjusting the controlling parameters of the system. The switching between superluminal and subluminal light p...... hiện toàn bộ
Probable Structural Invariant in Some Transitions between Crystal Water Phases
Allerton Press - Tập 31 - Trang 127-134 - 2023
E. A. Zheligovskaya
Probable structural mechanisms with structural invariants based on a chain of six-membered cycles linked through a common atom are proposed for some transitions between crystal water phases. It is shown that in the II → Ic transition with the structural invariant under consideration, 5/6 of the hydrogen bonds of the initial structure are retained, while in the same transition considered previously...... hiện toàn bộ
Interaction of Phase-Conjugate Acoustic Waves with Discrete Modes of Elastic Vibrations in a Magnet
Allerton Press - Tập 28 - Trang 285-289 - 2020
V. V. Moshkin, V. L. Preobrazhensky
Experimental investigation is given to overthreshold parametric phase conjugation of ultrasound waves with the frequency of 22 MHz under resonant excitation of discrete acoustic modes with the frequencies of 0.214 and 1.248 MHz in the antiferromagnetic single crystal of α-Fe2O3. It is shown that nonlinear interaction with discrete modes is accompanied by amplitude and phase modulation of traveling...... hiện toàn bộ
Photoacoustic and evaporation pressure signals in water irradiated with erbium laser pulses
Allerton Press - Tập 16 - Trang 275-282 - 2008
A. A. Samokhin, V. I. Vovchenko, N. N. Il’ichev
Pressure signals in water exposed to erbium laser pulses with a duration of 200 ns, a wavelength of 2.94 µm, and an intensity modulated with a period of ∼ 5 ns due to mode beats were studied. It was found that the amplitude of the high-frequency component of the pressure signal, caused by this modulation, reproduces the behavior of the smooth component of the laser pulse shape at low irradiation i...... hiện toàn bộ
Application potential of paratellurite and iodic acid crystals for acousto-optics in the Terahertz range
Allerton Press - Tập 25 - Trang 114-118 - 2017

The possibility of applying paratellurite, iodic acid, and lithium iodate crystals in acousto-optics in the THz range has been investigated. The transparency windows of these crystals and their refractive indices in the THz range have been determined. The acousto-optic figures of merit of these materials are calculated for different acousto-optic interaction geometries.
Laser Desorption of Organic Compound Ions from a Silicon Surface Modified by Laser Irradiation
Allerton Press - Tập 28 - Trang 213-221 - 2020
A. V. Pento, S. M. Nikiforov, Ya. O. Simanovsky
Laser desorption of organic compound ions from specially prepared surfaces is known as surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization (SALDI). In this work the properties of a SALDI ion emitter obtained by two-stage laser treatment of crystalline silicon surface have been investigated. The laser surface treatment leads to the formation of a layer with nanoscale objects—quantum dots (QDs) less than 1...... hiện toàn bộ
