Response of a quasi-elliptical geometry crystal-subject in spectrometry of whole-body activity
Tập 18 - Trang 614-617 - 1967
The ‘static few particle problem’ in the plane
Global boundedness of weak solutions to a chemotaxis–haptotaxis model with p-Laplacian diffusion
Tập 74 - Trang 1-21 - 2023
In this paper we study a chemotaxis–haptotaxis model with p-Laplacian diffusion and non-flux boundary condition
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{aligned}&u_{t}=\nabla \cdot (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)-\chi \nabla \cdot (u\nabla v)-\xi \nabla \cdot (u\nabla w)+\mu u(1-u-w),{} & {} (x,t)\in \Omega \times (0,T),\\&v_{t}=\Delta v-v+u,{} & {} (x,t)\in \Omega \times (0,T),\\&w_{t}=-vw,{} & {} (x,t)\in \Omega \times (0,T), \end{aligned} \right. \end{aligned}$$
where
$$\Omega \subset \mathbb {R}^n(n\ge 1)$$
is a bounded domain with smooth boundary
$$\partial \Omega $$
. We prove that when the diffusion parameter is appropriately large, i.e., p larger than some certain value, the global boundedness of the solutions does not depend on the relationship between the coefficient of logistic source term
$$\mu $$
and the coefficient of chemotaxis term
$$\chi $$
. And we find that the haptotaxis term does not affect the global boundedness of the solutions, in the other words, our result is consistent with the conclusion with no haptotaxis term (Zhuang et al. in Z Angew Math Phys 72:161, 2021).
Dynamic contact problem for a bridge modeled by a viscoelastic full von Kármán system
Tập 61 - Trang 865-876 - 2010
The existence of solutions is proved for a full system of dynamic von Kármán equations expressing vibrations of geometrically nonlinear viscoelastic plate, the viscosity of which has the character of a short memory. The system models the behaviour of a bridge. The in-plane acceleration terms are taken into account. The boundary contact conditions for plane displacements and possibly the contact with the rigid support are considered.
A second moment closure model for MHD turbulence
Tập 40 - Trang 740-757 - 1989
A second moment turbulence closure model of the type used before for flows with density stratification, frame rotation and streamline curvature is augmented to describe MHD flows with small magnetic Reynolds number. It is shown that all three configurations of the constant unidirectional magnetic field (longitudinal, transverse and azimuthal) suppress the components of the Reynolds stress tensor as well as turbulence energy. Criterions are derived for the extinction of 3-D turbulence based on magnetic Richardson numbers. Monin-Obukhov type similarity theory is developed for MHD turbulent flows. The combined effect of longitudinal magnetic field and spanwise rotation is considered. A discussion is presented on the extra strains exerted by the electromagnetic force compared to the effects of buoyancy, frame rotation and streamline curvature.
Elementare Fälle des Dirichletschen Problems für elliptische Gebiete der Ebene
Tập 8 - Trang 309-313 - 1957
The Dirichlet problem is solved for an elliptic domain if the boundary values are given by a polynomial defined in the interior of the ellipse. The solution is a finite expansion in harmonic polynomials.
An asymptotic formula for the voltage potential in the case of a near-surface conductivity inclusion
Tập 57 - Trang 234-243 - 2005
We rigorously derive an asymptotic expansion of the steady-state voltage potentials in the presence of a conductivity inclusion of small volume that is close to a planar surface. This new formula is motivated by the practically important inverse problem of imaging a conductivity inclusion near a planar interface.
The thermal laminar boundary layer on a rotating sphere
On the global existence of classical solutions for compressible nematic liquid crystal flows with vacuum
Tập 71 - Trang 1-19 - 2020
This paper deals with the Cauchy problem of compressible nematic liquid crystal flows in the whole space $$\mathbb {R}^3$$. We show that if, in addition, the conservation law of the total mass is satisfied (i.e., $$\rho _0\in L^1$$), then the global existence theorem with small density and $$L^3$$-norm of the gradient of $$d_0$$ holds for any $$\gamma >1$$. It is worth mentioning that the initial total energy can be arbitrarily large and the initial vacuum is allowed. Thus, the result obtained particularly extends the one due to Li et al. (J Math Fluid Mech 20:2105–2145, 2018), where the global well-posedness of classical solutions with small energy was proved.
