Feasibility of narrow gap welding using the cold-wire gas metal arc welding (CW-GMAW) processWelding in the World - - 2017
Paulo D’Angelo Costa Assunção, R. A. Ribeiro, Emanuel B. F. Dos Santos, Adrian P. Gerlich, Eduardo de Magalhães Braga
This article evaluates the performance of the cold-wire gas metal arc welding
(CW-GMAW) process for narrow gap girth welding. The CW-GMAW process is
characterized by the introduction of a continuously fed non-energized wire
(cold-wire) into the electric arc/weld pool region. The cold-wire is melted by
using the surplus heat available at the arc and molten metal at the weld pool.

Micro-Magnetic Evaluation of Micro-Residual Stresses of the IInd and IIIrd OrdersWelding in the World - Tập 56 - Trang 29-34 - 2013
Madalina Rabung, Iris Altpeter, Gerd Dobmann, Klaus Szielasko
Micro-residual stresses (MRS) of the IInd and IIIrd orders play an important
role in the fracture mechanical analysis of thermally-cycled materials and thus
in lifetime analysis of such affected components. In multi-phase materials there
can exist two kinds of MRS: thermally-induced MRS of the IInd order and coherent
MRS of the IIIrd order. The first appear when individual material phases exhibit

Experimental simulation of dissimilar weld metal of high manganese steels by arc melting techniqueWelding in the World - Tập 61 - Trang 249-256 - 2017
B . Wittig, M. Zinke, S. Jüttner, D. Keil
This paper presents an arc melting technique that allows simulating dissimilar
weld metal of high manganese steels with ferritic and martensitic steel grades.
The objective of this initial study was to conceive a melting technique that
produces dissimilar metal welds using a GTA process in a water-cooled copper
crucible under welding adequate cooling conditions and with homogeneous mixing.

Experimental study of arc bubble growth and detachment from underwater wet FCAWWelding in the World - Tập 63 - Trang 1747-1759 - 2019
Jianfeng Wang, Qingjie Sun, Tao Zhang, Pengwei Xu, Jicai Feng
The bubble around the arc burning zone, defined as arc bubble, is the key factor
to affect the process stability and joint quality in underwater wet welding. In
this study, visual sensing of the bubble growth and detachment based on a
high-speed camera in conjunction with a dysprosium lamp was realized. The
extracted boundaries of a growing arc bubble were obtained via an image
processing of the c... hiện toàn bộ
Health and Safety in Fabrication and Repair of Welded Components: Aspects, Impacts and Compliance with RegulationsWelding in the World - Tập 53 Số 5 - Trang 28-34 - 2009
Costa, Luca
The evaluation of the aspects of health and safety of welding fabrication and
repair activities is rather complex, because of the great number of disciplines
involved. An attempt at classification of these aspects will be proposed,
dividing them into physical aspects — including radiation, heat, noise,
electrical dangers, electromagnetic fields and work environment conditions, and
chemical aspects... hiện toàn bộ
Interface Structure And Strength Of Fluxless Ultrasonic Soldered Joints Of Magnesium AlloyWelding in the World - Tập 55 - Trang 78-82 - 2011
Hong Li, Zhuo-Xin Li, Chen Gao, Jin-ye Wang
This study was performed to investigate the ultrasonic soldering of the
magnesium alloy AZ31B in air, without using flux. A new type of Mg-AI-Zn-RE
filler metal with a low melting point was developed, which enabled AZ31B to be
soldered below 400 °C. The granular compound distributed in the filler metal may
be Nd11Al3 intermetallic phase. The bonding strength of the lap-joint was
measured and the m... hiện toàn bộ
Microstructure and mechanical properties characterization of aged and repair welded Alloy 617MWelding in the World - Tập 67 - Trang 1155-1168 - 2023

A chemistry-controlled variant of nickel-based Alloy 617 (UNS N06617) designated
as Alloy 617M is the candidate structural material for superheater header and
tubing and high pressure and intermediate pressure steam turbines for Indian
advanced ultra-supercritical (AUSC) coal-fired thermal power plant mission
program. This study evaluates the effect of ageing due to service exposure on

Factors influencing the fiber orientation in welding of fiber-reinforced thermoplasticsWelding in the World - Tập 62 - Trang 997-1012 - 2018
Isabel Fiebig, Volker Schoeppner
In welding of fiber-reinforced thermoplastics, the welding pressure initiates
squeeze flow of melt into the weld bead. This leads to reorientation of fibers
into the flow direction. Therefore, the fibers in the weld are mainly oriented
perpendicular to the joining direction. Since this is mostly identical to the
load direction, the reinforcing effect of fibers is not effective in the weld
because ... hiện toàn bộ
