The spatial disposition of a 2-methylthio group in the 4-methyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinanyl ring system was studied by stereochemical correlation, 1H, 13C and 81P NM-R. It has been established that a CH3S-group prefers an axial orientation much more strongly than does a methoxy group.

Genetically suppressible mutants of the bacteriophage fr have been isolated. One type of mutation produces incomplete phage particles of buoyant density 1.41.
These particles contain only 70% of the normal amount of RNA which seems to have been degraded into small pieces which have sedimentation constants from 12 — 16 S.

Das bei der bakteriellen Reduktion von farblosemTriphenyl-tetrazoliumchlorid (TTC) gebildete rote Triphenylformazan findet man in definierten Bereichen der Bakterienzelle*. Bei Escherichia coli und Salmonella typhi erscheinen die Farbbereiche („Reduktionsorte“) nach 1 bis 30 min Einwirkung von TTC als im Dunkelfeld gelb- bis rubinrot leuchtende Kügelchen vom Durchmesser der Bakterien.
