Impact of corporate social responsibility and risk management capabilities on sustainable operation performance: the moderating role digital transformation
Ít Văn Nguyễn, Tỉnh Thị Nguyễn
On the underpinning theory of the Resource Based Theory (RBT), this research examines the impact of corporate social responsibility and risk management capabilities on sustainable operation performance with the moderating role of digital transformation. The questionnaire in this study includes 29 items, and a random sampling technique was employed. The data was collected from 439 leaders and management-level employees working at manufacturing enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. The collected data were analyzed using Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to validate the data and check the assumed relationships. The results showed that corporate social responsibility has a strong positive impact on the sustainable operation performance, followed by the risk management capabilities, which has the second strong positive impact on the sustainable operation performance. The results also show that digital transformation has both the third strongest impact on sustainable operation performance and also plays a regulatory role in increasing the level of positive impact of the above relationships. Based on the findings, several implications are suggested to help managers of manufacturing enterprises consider the regulatory role of digital transformation when implementing corporate social responsibility and managing risks, and henceforth, contributes to sustainable operation performance.

Intellectual capital, knowledge management, innovation, and organizational performance: A literature review study
Phạm Quốc Trung, Pham Anh Tuan
In recent years, knowledge or more broadly intellectual capital (IC) has been considered an organization's most important resource, and its effective management is a key factor to an organization's success. One of the widely recognized approaches is knowledge management (KM), as KM is the systematic and organized utilization of the intellectual power of an organization to achieve efficiency, ensure competitive advantage, and encourage innovation. KM as a science has become a topic of increasing interest to many people as a tool to help enterprises work more effective, especially to improve innovation capability and organizational performance (OP). Although there have been many studies and publications on KM, however, there are still many unanswered questions. Specifically, how to transform IC resource into innovation capability and OP through KM operation is still an issue to be explored and controversial, especially in the context of small and medium enterprises. This study was carried out through reading and analyzing the content of 372 academic articles related to the concepts of IC, KM, innovation, and OP, with the aim of systematizing the concepts and discussing research results on the relationship between concepts to identify research gaps. From that analysis result, the article proposes a research framework and model.
Corruption and the soundness of banking systems in middle-income countries
Mai Quynh Cac Nguyen, Liem Thanh Nguyen, Son Hung Tran
The paper examines the impact of corruption on the soundness of banking systems in middle-income countries. The findings show that corruption exacerbates the soundness of banking systems in those countries. This implies that increased corruption leads to banks more prone to taking risks and a rise in non-performing loans, rendering higher probability of crises. The results from robustness test yields consistent results. In addition, the results of the study show that the bankspecific variables as well as those related to regulations and institutional quality can also affect the health of banking systems in middle-income countries.
Criteria for assessing technological capabilities of logistics enterprises in Vietnam: Empirical study at two logistics enterprises X and Y
Nguyen Thi Duc Nguyen, Nguyễn Thị Hoàng Mai, Phùng Khánh Nguyên
The study focuses on synthesizing, analyzing and selecting criteria to assess technological capabilities for logistics enterprises in Vietnam and illustrates how to deploy criteria in practice by empirical study at two logistics enterprises X and Y. Based on the desk research, 5 in-depth interviews, the study identifies and modifies 11 main criteria - awaring the need to improve, searching, building distinctive core capabilities, developing a technology strategy, assessing and selecting the technological solutions, acquiring and absorbing the technologies, implementing and effectively using the technologies, learning to improve technological capabilities, forming and exploiting linkages with a network of suppliers and collaborating firms, human resources, facilities - and 44 sub-criteria according to technology management process approach. Combining IPA method, RADAR diagram and SPSS software, the empirical results of testing the criteria show that enterprises X and Y mainly remain the weaknesses in facilities and technological assessment and selection. Overall, this study provides a quantitative approach for logistics enterprises’ managers to make appropriate decisions on investment and technology development. In addition, for enterprises in other industries, this study is a useful reference for building and applying the criteria set to assess technological capabilities. Moreover, for researchers who are interested in technological capabilities, this study provides empirical results of assessing technological capabilities for logistics enterprises in Vietnam based on the approach of technology management process.
The impact of social capital on the market access of coffee farmer house holds in Lam Dong province
Duong The Duy, Nguyen Thai Dung
The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of social capital and other factors that affect the market access of coffee farmer households. The study synthesized theories, as well as previous studies, to provide criteria for measuring social capital of coffee farmers' households: including formal social networks, informal social networks, and trust. Besides, the study uses descriptive statistics, logistic regression, two t-average tests to analyze and assess the difference in social capital between poor and non-poor households of 235 coffee farmer households in Lam Dong Province. The results show that Agricultural Extension Associations, Association Organizations (proxy for official social networks), Agents at all levels, Colleagues - Friends (informal social networks), age, years of living in the locality, and labor have an impact on the market access of coffee farmer households. Some recommendations to improve market access of coffee farmers in the province have been proposed, based on the previous theories as well as the results of the research model The research, however, is yet to clarify the impact of social capital on each market of finance, land, labor, extension services, material, and output markets.
Relationship between organization commitment and quality of accounting information in information system: The moderating role of software type
Huong Thi Thu Truong
The aims of the paper are to investigate the impact of organizational commitment on the quality of accounting information in Vietnamese enterprises through the quality of information system. Information system is a very important system in enterprises, playing a role in collecting, processing and providing information to administrators to perform administrative functions and support the decision-making process, in which accounting information is considered one of the most important information of the business. Therefore, studying about the quality of accounting information has always been a necessary and meaningful topic both in academia and practice. This study was conducted with samples of 220 subjects, working in different positions in the enterprise, including accountants and employees in other parts of the business. Research data was collected through questionnaire survey (from April 2022 to July 2022), then used for descriptive statistical analysis and hypothesis testing. The research results show that there is an impact of the organizational commitment factor on information system (IS) quality and the IS quality has an impact on the accounting information (AI) quality. In addition, the research results also show that there is a moderating effect of software type on the relationship between information system quality and accounting information quality.
Testing Okun's law on the relationship between employment rate and economic growth in developed and developing countriesa
Vo Thi Le Uyen, Lê Thị Xoan
Regression models for panel data are increasingly widely used in socio-economic studies because they consider the relationship between many objects over time; thus they can better measure unobservable effects. This study aims to test Okun's law on the relationship between economic growth rate and unemployment rate in two groups of countries (developed and developing). The study was conducted on panel data for the period 2008–2019 using a number of static and dynamic regression models. The model test results show that the dynamic regression model (differential general moment model, DGMM) is a more suitable model in testing the validity of Okun's law for these two groups of countries. These results show that the relationship between unemployment and economic growth in both these groups of countries is quite consistent with Okun's law, in which developing countries have a higher degree of concordance. Moreover, the group of developing countries has a larger Okun coefficient, so economic growth in this group of countries is more affected by the unemployment rate. From the obtained results, we try to explain the causes leading to this difference in this influence level , and suggest some solutions that need special attention to achieve the goal of economic growth.
Information exchange in construction design phase: a case study using Social Network Analysis
Bao Ngoc Nguyen
Effective information exchange contributes greatly to the success of a project. However, so far when mentioning this topic, people have still been uncertain and confused about its advantages. A uniform method to visualise this theme should be established so that existing problems can be exposed and hence remedies will be suggested towards the transformation of nature and structure of information exchange. This paper applies Social Network Analysis techniques to study information exchange practices in design consulting projects through a case study. On that basis, the present study assesses the cohesiveness of the network, measuring the role and position of actors. Overall, the cohesion in the overall network structure was average, the collaboration was not extensive. There were still some actors on the edge of the network with weak links. The key player in the network was surprisingly the Coordinator. The information path was fairly long and there was a risk of being distorted when passing through transit nodes. The findings of this research have considerable managerial implications. The prospect of being able to do SNA serves as a continuous impulse for future research in the field of construction management and project management in Vietnam.
Explore values of traditional fish sauce consumers by mean-end chain theory
Tran Thi Ny, Lê Thị Thanh Xuân, Le Hoai Kieu Giang
In recent years, dipping sauce products (also known as industrial fish sauce) have had a significant development with various brands, which has gradually taken the place of traditional fish sauce products in the market. The main purpose of this study is to identify the values that traditional fish sauce users receive, thereby helping traditional fish sauce businesses to focus on producing and communicating these important values to customers. To determine these values, the present study employs Mean-End Chain theory and soft-laddering interview technique with the following objectives: (i) identify the attributes of traditional fish sauce leading consumers' decisions of use; (ii) explore the link between these attributes and consumers' values through chains of the attribute (A) - consequence (C) - value (V) according to MEC theory. Research findings have shown 17 attributes of traditional fish sauce, 20 consequences (including 13 functional consequences and 07 psychosocial consequences), and 12 values, in which 4 important values including Mental comfort; Good health; Trust; and Loyalty. From the research's results, managerial implications are proposed to promote the production and consumption of traditional fish sauce.
