Silurian paleoclimate data from fluid inclusions in the Salina Group halite Michigan BasinSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 15 - Trang 28-36 - 2000
Arthur B. Losey, Kathleen Counter Benison
The Silurian Salina Group of the Michigan Basin consists of halite, carbonates, and shales. The halite was probably deposited when seawater became restricted over what is now southern Michigan. The halite consists of: (1) beds containing only chevrons, and (2) beds composed of chevron and cumulate crystals. This indicates shallow depositional waters. The primary fluid inclusions along growth bands...... hiện toàn bộ
Contaminant plumes and pseudoplumes in karst aquifersSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 27 - Trang 153-159 - 2012

Contaminant plumes in the strictest sense only occur in granular media. Defined as contaminated groundwater masses spreading by diffusion and hydrodynamic dispersion, plumes take the shape of a feather, from which the name derives. While plume-like masses may appear in a uniformly and densely fractured medium, they rarely develop in karst aquifers—though they are frequently alleged to exist. Unfor...... hiện toàn bộ
Analysis of the utility and management of karst underground reservoirs: case study of the Perućac karst springSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 26 - Trang 61-68 - 2011

The construction of an underground dam and reservoir to provide an artificial water storage and karst control groundwater discharge regime is one of the most complex systems of tapping structure in karst. There are not many examples of underground dams, which increase the importance of risk management in their construction. This study proposes a procedure for constructing the underground karst res...... hiện toàn bộ
Stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology of gypsum caves in east central New MexicoSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 12 - Trang 64-72 - 1997
Jeffrey Forbes, Ray Nances
Hundreds of solution caves have developed in evaporites and carbonates of the Permian San Andres Formation where it crops out between Vaughn and Roswell, New Mexico, USA. Several of the caves are over 3.2 km (2 miles) in length, and the deepest has a vertical extent of over 120 m (400 feet). These gypsum caves afford an extraordinary opportunity to examine the evaporite rocks in which they are dev...... hiện toàn bộ
Dynamic evolution of karst water levels and its controlling and influencing factors in Northern China: a case study in the Dawu water source areaSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 35 - Trang 1-12 - 2020

The Dawu water source is the most important urban water supply source in Zibo City, Shandong Province, China. In this paper, the karst water level, precipitation, exploitation and flood discharge data during 2012–2018 were used to study and explore the characteristics and factors that control and influence the dynamic evolution of the karst water level in the Dawu water source area. The results sh...... hiện toàn bộ
