An approach is proposed for the calculation of the operating conditions of an induction crucible furnace at the final stage of melting with the power focused in various regions of melted metal. The calculation is performed using a model based on the method of detailed magnetic equivalent circuits. The combination of the furnace and a thyristor frequency converter is taken into account in modeling.

A method is proposed for the introduction of shungite rocks into aluminum melts by mechanical mixing with carriers, namely, aluminum granules and reactive titanium powders taking part in exothermic in situ reactions. The structures of composite materials with shungite rock additions are studied, and a stabilizing effect of these additions on dry sliding friction is revealed.

The deformation characteristics of silica fabric with a thermal barrier coating, which is used for the production of the ballute-type aerobrake of a descent module, are estimated. A rubberized fabric strip is subjected to uniaxial tensile tests to failure. Various finite-element simulation approaches to the deformation of the fabric are considered.

The mechanical properties of a 08GBYu sheet steel ((wt %) 0.08 C, 1.0 Mn, 0.04 Nb, 0.04 Al) with a zinc coating and after its electrolytic removal are studied. Multifractal analysis is used to study the deformation and fracture of a promising composite material consisting of a wire base made of K17N9M14 maraging steel covered with a surface layer made from a Co69Fe4Cr4Si12B11 amorphous alloy. As compared to its components, this material has a substantially better set of the mechanical properties.

The energy–force parameters of free rolling of a strip without its tension and rolling with one backward or forward creep zone in the deformation zone are compared. The limiting backward or forward tensions are determined, and the change in the linear sizes of a composite billet during deformation in a rolling mill is considered.
