Extraction of interatomic potentials from structure of liquidsAbstract The connection between interatomic potentials and structure functions of liquids is studied. The expressions for two- and three-body potentials are obtained. The contribution of three-body effects is found to be significant, reaching several per cent of the ground-state energy.
