Thermodynamics of some ZrO2-containing ceramics

Thermodynamic assessment in the ternary systems ZrO2-CeO2-Y2O2 , ZrO2-CeO2-Ce2O3 and the limiting binaries ZrO2-Y2O3, ZrO2-CeO2 ,CeO2-Y2O2, ZrO2-Ce2O3, CeO2-Ce2O3 as well as the modeling for oxides are reviewed comprehensively. Based on the recent estimations on the YO1,5-CeO2, ZrO2-CeO2 and ZrO2-YO1,5 systems, isothermal sections at 1 273 and 1 973 K of the ternary CeO2-ZrO2-YO1,5 system are calculated. A numerical approach to hopf bifurcation points

The computation of Hopf bifurcation points for differential equations with a parameter α is considered. It is well known that the Hopf bifurcation is well characterized by the fact that the first (largest) Lyapunov exponent is zero and the rest are not zero, or by the fact that the corresponding Jacobian has two purely imaginary roots which cross the imaginary axis as α increases through some α0. An algorithm for detecting Hopf bifurcation points is given in this paper. The basic ideas and techniques are exemplified for the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equations. These equations are chosen because they are fairely simple while the dynamics is sufficiently complicated.

The generalized Smoluchovski equation with reinforced source is analysed. The asymptotic expression of the size distribution of cluster C
m(t) is obtained by seeking the steady-state solution and post-gel solution of the generalized Smoluchovski equation with reinforced source. The result can be verified by Friedlander’s experiment.
Preparation of aryl-substituted sulfonium by condensation of biphenyl sulfoxides with aromatic compound

Three kind of aryl-substituted tri-benzyl sulfonium salts [(4-phX)phSph2]PF6[X=S,O] were prepared by the condensation of biphenyl sulfoxide with biphenyl sulfide, biphenyl ether or 1,1’-biphenyl in the presence of polyphosphoric acid which can be used as dehydrate agent. The reaction condition was mild, such as reaction temperature between 40–50 °C, reactive time 2–3 h, the yield of 4-(phenylthio)triphenylsulfonium hexafluorophosphate was 87.6%. The three kind sulfonium salts show better curing character to epoxy resin.
A new generalized complex orthogonal space-time block codes

Recent research challenges in the wireless communication include the usage of diversity and efficient coding to improve data transmission quality and spectral efficiency. Space diversity uses multiple transmitting and/or receiving antennas to create independent fading channels without penalty in bandwidth efficiency. Space-time block coding is an encoding scheme for communication over Rayleigh fading channels using multiple transmitting antennas. Space-time block codes from complex orthogonal designs exist only for two transmitting antennas. This paper generalizes a new complex orthogonal space-time block code for four transmitting antennas, whose decoding complexity is very low. Simulations show that the generalized complex orthogonal space-time block code has low bit error rate, full rate and possibly large diversity.

The conserved signaling pathways and physiological functions of insulin-like peptides in insects

Insulin is one of the most extensively studied protein hormones, and its structure and function have been elucidated in many vertebrate species, ranging from human to fish. Insulin-like peptides (ILPs) also have been found and characterized in different invertebrates, including nematodes, mollusks and insects. However, insect ILPs turned out to be a structurally diverse group encoded by large multi-gene families that are expressed in the brain and other tissues and serve functions different from vertebrate insulin. Recent physiological and genetic studies have revealed that, in different insect species, the conserved insulin signaling pathway plays a key role in the regulation of a variety of fundamental processes, such as metabolism, growth, reproduction and aging. Here, the structures, distributions, conserved signaling pathways, and physiological functions of insect ILPs are reviewed in detail.
A novel sinusoidal-wave permanent magnetic motor with high power density

A novel high power-density PMSM (permanent magnetic synchronous motor) with independent magnetic flux path for each phase is proposed in the paper. The complex ma thematic model of PMSM is simplified by decoupling of magnetic flux paths between motor phases. In addition, harmonic components are lowered through optimum design of EMF (electric motive force) wave. Thus the ripple torque caused by EMF wave distortion is suppressed.
Code mechanical solidification and verification in MEMS security devices

The virtual machine of code mechanism (VMCM) as a new concept for code mechanical solidification and verification is proposed and can be applied in MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) security device for high consequence systems. Based on a study of the running condition of physical code mechanism, VMCM′s configuration, ternary encoding method, running action and logic are derived. The cases of multi-level code mechanism are designed and verified with the VMCM method, showing that the presented method is effective.
