AbstractThe validity of the six‐question World Health Organization Adult ADHD
Self‐Report Scale (ASRS) Screener was assessed in a sample of subscribers to a
large health plan in the US. A convenience subsample of 668 subscribers was
administered the ASRS Screener twice to assess test‐retest reliability and then
a third time in conjunction with a clinical interviewer for DSM‐IV adult ADHD.

Method for moderation: measuring lifetime risk of alcohol‐attributable mortality as a basis for drinking guidelinesInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 17 Số 3 - Trang 141-151 - 2008
Jürgen Rehm, Robin Room, Benjamin J. Taylor
AbstractThe objective of this paper was to determine separately the lifetime
risk of drinking alcohol for chronic disease and acute injury outcomes as a
basis for setting general population drinking guidelines for Australia. Relative
risk data for different levels of average consumption of alcohol were combined
with age, sex, and disease‐specific risks of dying from an alcohol‐attributable
chronic... hiện toàn bộ
The Netherlands Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Association (NOCDA) study: design and rationale of a longitudinal naturalistic study of the course of OCD and clinical characteristics of the sample at baselineInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 21 Số 4 - Trang 273-285 - 2012

AbstractIn half of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) patients the disorder
runs a chronic course despite treatment. The factors determining this
unfavourable outcome remain unknown. The Netherlands Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder Association (NOCDA) study is a multicentre naturalistic cohort study of
the biological, psychological and social determinants of chronicity in a
clinical sample. Recruitme... hiện toàn bộ
Twelve‐month and lifetime prevalence and lifetime morbid risk of anxiety and mood disorders in the United StatesInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 21 Số 3 - Trang 169-184 - 2012

AbstractEstimates of 12‐month and lifetime prevalence and of lifetime morbid
risk (LMR) of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth
Edition, Text Revision (DSM‐IV‐TR) anxiety and mood disorders are presented
based on US epidemiological surveys among people aged 13+. The presentation is
designed for use in the upcoming DSM‐5 manual to provide more coherent estimates

Testing the Short and Screener versions of the Social Adjustment Scale – Self‐report (SAS‐SR)International Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 21 Số 1 - Trang 52-65 - 2012
Marc J. Gameroff, Priya Wickramaratne, Myrna M. Weissman
AbstractThe 54‐item Social Adjustment Scale – Self‐report (SAS‐SR) is a measure
of social functioning used in research studies and clinical practice. Two
shortened versions were recently developed: the 24‐item SAS‐SR: Short and the
14‐item SAS‐SR: Screener. We briefly describe the development of the shortened
scales and then assess their reliability and validity in comparison to the full
SAS‐SR in... hiện toàn bộ
Estimating the prevalence of any impairing childhood mental disorder in the national health interview surveyInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 24 Số 4 - Trang 266-274 - 2015

AbstractThis study investigates whether the six‐item Strengths and Difficulties
Questionnaire SDQ (five symptoms and one impact item) included in the National
Health Interview Survey (NHIS) can be used to construct models that accurately
estimate the prevalence of any impairing mental disorder among children 4–17
years old as measured by a shortened Child/Adolescent or Preschool Age

The structure of common mental disorders: A replication study in a community sample of adolescents and young adultsInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 18 Số 4 - Trang 204-220 - 2009
Katja Beesdo‐Baum, Volker Arolt, Andrew T. Gloster, Jens Klotsche, Roselind Lieb, André Beauducel, Markus Bühner, Ronald C. Kessler, Hans‐Ulrich Wittchen
AbstractPrevious research suggests that patterns of comorbidity of common mental
disorders among adults are best reflected by a hierarchical three‐factor
structure with two correlated factors (‘anxious‐misery’ and ‘fear’) summarized
in a second‐order ‘internalizing’ factor and one ‘externalizing’ factor. This
three‐factor structure has not been examined yet in a sample of adolescents and
young adu... hiện toàn bộ
Meta‐analysis of self‐reported substance use compared with laboratory substance assay in general adult mental health settingsInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 21 Số 2 - Trang 134-148 - 2012
Matthew Large, Glen Smith, Grant Sara, Michael Paton, Karina Karolina De Santis, Olav Nielssen
AbstractAn accurate assessment of substance use is necessary to make a correct
psychiatric diagnosis and to provide appropriate treatment. This study uses
meta‐analysis to establish the strength of the association between self‐reported
substance use and the results of laboratory substance assay including the
testing for specific substances and screening for any substance use in
psychiatric hospita... hiện toàn bộ
Multiple imputation by chained equations: what is it and how does it work?International Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research - Tập 20 Số 1 - Trang 40-49 - 2011

AbstractMultivariate imputation by chained equations (MICE) has emerged as a
principled method of dealing with missing data. Despite properties that make
MICE particularly useful for large imputation procedures and advances in
software development that now make it accessible to many researchers, many
psychiatric researchers have not been trained in these methods and few practical
resources exist t... hiện toàn bộ
