Characterization of Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolated from farmed sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) during disease outbreaksInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 5 - Trang 1-11 - 2013
Sadok Khouadja, Faouzi Lamari, Amina Bakhrouf
Vibrio parahaemolyticus was isolated from the internal organs of diseased sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) cultured in a marine cage farm and an inshore fish farm in the summer 2010. All strains isolated from diseased sea bass were tested for virulence by intraperitoneal injection. The isolates (n = 6) were pathogenic for sea bass. Only bacterial strains showing haemolytic activity were virulent. L...... hiện toàn bộ
Age-related NADH oxidase (arNOX) activity is significantly reduced in coelomic fluid of long-lived sea urchinsInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 5 - Trang 1-7 - 2013
Eric Talbert, Andrea Bodnar, Dorothy M Morré, D James Morré
Age-related NADH oxidase (arNOX) is a cell surface protein shed into the circulation and other body fluids, which generates superoxide. The activity increases with age in human tissues and body fluids (serum, saliva, and perspiration) and is a potential source of age-related oxidative damage. We measured arNOX activity in the coelomic fluid of sea urchin species with different life spans. Coelomic...... hiện toàn bộ
Growth performance of hybrid striped bass (Morone chrysops × M. saxatilis) fed with commercial pike perch and trout dietsInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 10 - Trang 57-63 - 2018
Stephan S. W. Ende, Vanessa Fuchs, Annabel Schuhn, Christiane von der Marwitz, Andrea Wirtz, Joachim Henjes, Matthew Slater
Two commercial trout diets (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and one commercial pike perch diet (Sander lucioperca) were fed to hybrid striped bass (Morone chrysops × M. saxatilis) (mean initial weight ± SD of 60.7 g ± 12.1; mean initial length SD of 17.2 cm ± 1.1) for 69 days at rations of approximately 1% average body weight. While final body weight (FBW), final length (FBL) and condition factor (Cf) were n...... hiện toàn bộ
Complete replacement of fish meal by other animal protein sources on growth performance of Clarias gariepinus fingerlingsInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 8 - Trang 333-341 - 2016
Arnauld S. M. Djissou, Dogbè C. Adjahouinou, Shunsuke Koshio, Emile D. Fiogbe
To completely replace the fish meal by a mixture of earthworm and maggot meals, experimental diets were tested during 42 days on Clarias gariepinus fingerlings. Five isoproteic and isoenergetic diets (40 % crude protein and 17.9 ± 0.3 kJ g−1) including the control diet (D1) based on fish meal, were formulated. All these diets satisfied the essential amino acids requirements of C. gariepinus finger...... hiện toàn bộ
Chromosome preparation in fish: effects of fish species and larval ageInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 7 - Trang 201-210 - 2015
Ali Karami, Peyman Eghtesadi Araghi, Mohd Arif Syed, Scott P. Wilson
To date, several protocols have been developed to achieve clear and identifiable metaphase chromosome spreads from larvae of a single fish species. However, the efficiency of these protocols in more than one fish species has barely been compared within a single study. This work investigated the dependency of chromosome preparation parameters including colchicine concentration (0.01, 0.025, 0.05 %)...... hiện toàn bộ
Influence of water management, photoperiod and aeration on growth, survival, and early spat settlement of the hatchery-reared green mussel, Perna viridisInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 11 - Trang 159-172 - 2019

In an attempt to induce early spat settlement and improve mussel seed production, this study aims to determine the influence of water management, photoperiod, and aeration, on the growth, survival and settlement of green mussel (Perna viridis). Water in the pediveliger rearing tanks was changed every day, every 3 days and every 5 days for the water-management experiment. Pediveligers were exposed ...... hiện toàn bộ
Effects of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on gonadal maturation and spawning of striped gourami, Colisa fasciatusInternational Aquatic Research - Tập 6 - Trang 1-13 - 2014

The present study was undertaken to determine the effects of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on histomorphological structure of liver, developmental stages of ovary, serum calcium (Ca2+) level, sperm quality and spontaneous spawning performance of striped gourami, Colisa fasciatus. Fishes were collected from the Brahmaputra River, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Treated group was fed with supplemental...... hiện toàn bộ
