Two cases of AlphaCor surgery performed using a small incision techniqueClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 33 Số 1 - Trang 10-15 - 2005
Geoffrey J. Crawford, Hiroshi Eguchi, Celia R. Hicks
AbstractThe authors have evaluated the AlphaCor artificial cornea (previously
Chirila KPro) in human patients since 1998, utilizing an intrastromal technique
requiring extensive corneal lamellar dissection and recommending conjunctival
flaps in all cases. Recent availability of low‐profile instruments has
facilitated a simpler technique, which was first evaluated in two subjects
followed for over ... hiện toàn bộ
Assessing the sub‐basal nerve plexus of the living healthy human cornea by in vivo confocal microscopyClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 30 Số 3 - Trang 187-190 - 2002

AbstractThe purpose of the study was to perform quantitative analysis of the
sub‐basal epithelial nerve plexus of healthy, living human cornea, using real
time in vivo confocal microscopy and the analySIS software system. The study was
based on in vivo confocal microstructural analysis of 50 eyes of 50 subjects,
divided into two age groups: group 1 (n = 25) 25 ± 5 years of age, and group 2
(n = 25... hiện toàn bộ
Tapioca melanoma of the iris mimicking a vascular tumour: a clinicopathological correlationClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 32 Số 3 - Trang 327-330 - 2004
Arne Viestenz, Robert M. Conway, Michael Küchle
AbstractAlthough vascular iris processes are usually benign, they may be a
clinical manifestation of iris melanoma, and this should be considered in the
differential diagnosis. The case is reported of a 20‐year‐old man with a highly
vascularized tapioca melanoma of the left iris without involvement of the
anterior chamber angle or ciliary body, but with observed growth tendency.

AbstractBackground: To investigate aqueous humour protein composition from
retinoblastoma patients.Design: Prospective, hospital‐based
study.Participants: Eighteen retinoblastoma patients (Reese–Ellsworth stage V
or ABC classification group E RB) undergoing ocular enucleation, and 10 normal
subjects undergoing cataract surgery. Five of 18 patients presented with
associated secondary glaucoma wh... hiện toàn bộ
Cyanoacrylate glue for corneal perforations: a description of a surgical technique and a review of the literatureClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 28 Số 6 - Trang 437-442 - 2000
Brendan J. Vote, Mark Elder
ABSTRACTThe effective early application of a cyanoacrylate glue corneal patch
can aid in the management of small corneal perforations, corneal melts and wound
leaks. Their use gives improved visual outcomes with reduced enucleation rates
(6%vs 19%). It may also avoid the need for tectonic penetrating
keratoplasty.Cyanoacrylate glue prevents re‐epithelialization into the zone of
damaged and naked s... hiện toàn bộ
Ocular toxicity of fluoroquinolonesClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 35 Số 6 - Trang 566-577 - 2007
Andrew M. Thompson
AbstractThe ocular toxicity of fluoroquinolones and the risks of their use in
the treatment of ocular infection were reviewed. Systematic identification,
selection, review and synthesis of published English‐language studies relating
to fluoroquinolone use and safety in animals and humans was conducted. Although
not free of complications, fluoroquinolones are generally safe when used to
treat ocula... hiện toàn bộ
Endothelial keratoplasty – a reviewClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 38 Số 2 - Trang 128-140 - 2010
Marianne O. Price, Francis W. Price
AbstractFrom its inception over a century ago, penetrating keratoplasty grew to
become the most common and most successful form of solid tissue transplantation.
Yet clinicians have long recognized the limitations of full‐thickness corneal
transplants, including prolonged visual rehabilitation, unpredictable refractive
changes, susceptibility to ocular surface complications and vulnerability to
tra... hiện toàn bộ
Deposits in artificial corneas: risk factors and preventionClinical and Experimental Ophthalmology - Tập 32 Số 2 - Trang 185-191 - 2004

Abstract Purpose: To identify risk factors for calcium deposition and pigmented
staining within AlphaCor artificial corneas. Methods: Retrospective analysis of
data from 72 AlphaCor implantations was conducted. Histological analysis of
explants was performed. Results: Eight cases of either intraoptic calcium or
pigment deposition occurred in AlphaCor patients between 2.5 and 21 months after
implan... hiện toàn bộ
