The Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) bacterium is responsible for many opportunistic infections such as sepsis, and a multidrug-resistant (MDR) clone sequence type (ST) 307 has recently begun to spread. The objective of this study was to report the first occurrence of this virulent genotype, which was found in the context of a urinary infection in a domestic feline in Brazil. The K. pneumonia...... hiện toàn bộ
First report of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus harboring mecC gene in milk samples from cows with mastitis in southeastern BrazilBrazilian Journal of Microbiology - Tập 51 - Trang 2175-2179 - 2020

MRSA infection and colonization have been reported in both companion and food-chain animals, highlighting MRSA as an important veterinary and zoonotic pathogen. Another mec allele, the mecC gene, also confers beta-lactam resistance in Staphylococcus aureus and shows 69% nucleotide identity to mecA. The main aim of this study was to investigate the genotypic and clonal profile of methicillin-resist...... hiện toàn bộ

Canine distemper outbreak and coinfections in three giant anteaters and in a maned wolf has been described. Three giant anteaters developed respiratory and digestive clinical signs after the introduction of a maned wolf to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The maned wolf and two anteaters died, and one anteater was euthanized. Post mortem and histopathologic exams revealed lesions associated with ...... hiện toàn bộ

Extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins are highly abundant in the human body and can be found in various tissues, most prominently in connective tissue and basement membrane. For invasive bacterial pathogens, these structures function as physical barriers that block access to underlying tissues. The ability to bind and degrade these barriers is important for the establishment of infections and migrat...... hiện toàn bộ
