Việc điều trị giai đoạn bùng phát tủy của bệnh bạch cầu mãn tính dạng hạt vẫn là một vấn đề lớn trong huyết học lâm sàng. Việc điều trị plicamycin và hydroxyurea cách ngày đã được báo cáo là tạo ra sự thuyên giảm ở phần lớn bệnh nhân trong giai đoạn bùng phát tủy bởi Koller và Miller vào năm 1986. Sau đó, chúng tôi đã điều trị tám bệnh nhân theo phác đồ này. Không thể đạt được sự thuyên giảm hoàn toàn và không quan sát thấy sự kéo dài thời gian sống trung vị. Ở hai bệnh nhân, việc điều trị phải ngừng lại do độc tính nặng.
