Sự gián đoạn chuỗi cung ứng chủ yếu do thảm họa đại dịch COVID-19 dự kiến sẽ kéo dài tình trạng thiếu chip toàn cầu thêm một vài năm nữa, trở thành một mối quan tâm cấp bách trên toàn cầu trong nhiều ngành công nghiệp. Tuy nhiên, ảnh hưởng của sự gián đoạn chuỗi cung ứng đến hiệu suất của các công ty trong ngành công nghiệp bán dẫn, đặc biệt ở những quốc gia đang phát triển như Malaysia, đã nhận được ít sự chú ý trong các nghiên cứu trước đây. Nghiên cứu này nhằm xác định cách thức các kỹ thuật thích ứng chuỗi cung ứng kết hợp sức mạnh, sự nhanh nhẹn và khả năng phục hồi trong đại dịch COVID-19 đã ảnh hưởng đến hiệu suất của các công ty đa quốc gia trong ngành công nghiệp bán dẫn tại Malaysia. Bản chất của nghiên cứu là định lượng, sử dụng phương pháp khảo sát. Dữ liệu được thu thập từ 82 công ty đa quốc gia trong ngành bán dẫn thông qua một nền tảng trực tuyến. Các phát hiện cho thấy khả năng phục hồi trong các chiến lược thích ứng chuỗi cung ứng có tác động đáng kể đến các công ty đa quốc gia trong ngành công nghiệp bán dẫn trong thời gian đại dịch COVID-19. Tuy nhiên, sự thành công của các công ty bán dẫn trong đại dịch COVID-19 không bị ảnh hưởng nhiều bởi khả năng phục hồi và sự linh hoạt của các chiến lược thích ứng chuỗi cung ứng. Những phát hiện này cung cấp những hiểu biết quý giá về cách các công ty thực hiện các chiến lược thích ứng chuỗi cung ứng trong những thời điểm khó khăn của đại dịch COVID-19. Kiến thức này có thể giúp họ giảm thiểu tác động từ sự gián đoạn chuỗi cung ứng do đại dịch COVID-19 và cuối cùng nâng cao hiệu suất của công ty. Các nghiên cứu trong tương lai nên xem xét khía cạnh mới của các chiến lược chuỗi cung ứng, chẳng hạn như lập kế hoạch dựa trên nhu cầu, sử dụng công cụ công nghệ để thích ứng với khí hậu trong các thời điểm khủng hoảng.
