Structure and thermal properties of oligomeric salts of m-carboranedicarboxylic acid

X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy, powder diffractometry, and IR spectroscopy have been employed to investigate the structure and thermal properties of oligomeric salts of m-carboranedicarboxylic acid. Oligomeric salts of m-carboranedicarboxylic acid and bivalent copper and zinc are shown to be ladder polymers in which m-carboranedicarboxylic acid plays the role of a tetradentate bridge ligand.
