Dữ liệu đầu tiên đã được thu thập về dòng chlorin theo phương thẳng đứng trong cột nước và sự tích tụ của nó ở lớp trên cùng của trầm tích biển Caspi. Biến động theo mùa của nồng độ clo trong vật chất trầm tích đã được đánh giá. Xu hướng giảm nồng độ chất hữu cơ do fitoplankton tổng hợp (vật chất ngoại sinh) đã được phát hiện trong khoảng thời gian khoảng 60 năm qua.
