Benzothiazoles thay thế ở vị trí 2 đã được tổng hợp qua phản ứng một bước từ các aldehyde thơm và o-aminothiophenol dưới sự xúc tác của axit silica sulfuric trong metanol tuyệt đối ở nhiệt độ phòng.
