Mười hai khối u tuyến cận giáp chủ (adenoma) từ các bệnh nhân bị cường cận giáp nguyên phát đã được ủ trong hệ thống nuôi cấy mô trong điều kiện có nồng độ canxi khác nhau và trong các khoảng thời gian khác nhau. Phản ứng nội tiết của mô đã được kiểm tra bằng phương pháp vi kính điện tử và phương pháp miễn dịch phóng xạ. Sau khi ủ trong môi trường có nồng độ canxi thấp, các khối u tuyến cận giáp cho thấy các dấu hiệu vi cấu trúc của sự kích thích với sự gia tăng sự phát triển của các bào quan tổng hợp hormone. Sự phát triển của phản ứng vi cấu trúc có thể được quan sát lần đầu tiên sau bốn giờ và gia tăng lên tới vài ngày. Bằng các phương pháp miễn dịch phóng xạ, một sự gia tăng bài tiết hormone đã được chứng minh. Kết quả trái ngược đã được thu được sau khi ủ mô u trong điều kiện nuôi cấy ức chế. Để kiểm tra việc tổng hợp de-novo của hormone được giải phóng, mô đã được ủ trong môi trường chứa 75Se-methionine. Kết quả cho thấy sự phóng xạ của hormone cận giáp được tiết ra, cho thấy sự tổng hợp de novo trong hệ thống nuôi cấy của chúng tôi. Đặc tính sinh học của hormone được giải phóng được chứng minh bằng cách so sánh PTH từ môi trường với tiêu chuẩn quốc tế của MRC về người bằng hai phương pháp xét nghiệm phóng xạ khác nhau.
