A Microwave Photoconductivity and Photostimulated Flash Luminescence Study of Silver Chloride Photolysis

The combined effect of chemical surface treatment (HCl, AgNO3) and preliminary UV irradiation on the properties of electron trapping sites and luminescence sites in silver chloride grains was studied using the microwave photoconductivity and photostimulated flash luminescence techniques. It was found that the properties of the sites strongly depended on a sample history and surface treatment conditions. The results obtained show the exceptional sensitivity of both techniques to variation in the surface states in grains.
