Ideal copolymers and the second‐order transitions of synthetic rubbers. i. non‐crystalline copolymers
Tập 2 Số 9 - Trang 493-500 - 1952
M. Gordon, James S. Taylor
AbstractTheoretical and practical evidence is put forward to show that copolymers can be treated like solutions of small molecules in the interpretation of packing phenomena, and that ideal volume‐additivity of the repeating units in copolymers is frequently realized. On this basis equations are derived for predicting θ, the second‐order transition temperature, of ...... hiện toàn bộ
An improved method for the calculation of pore size distribution from adsorption data
Tập 14 Số 3 - Trang 109-114 - 1964
D. Dollimore, G.R. Heal
AbstractA method for calculating the pore size distribution from adsorption isotherms on porous solids is described, which is more exact and less tedious to use than some previously described methods. The method of compiling tables for calculation is shown and an example of such a calculation is given.
Electrical measurements in the study of immersed paint coatings on metal. I. Comparison between capacitance and gravimetric methods of estimating water‐uptake
Tập 4 Số 2 - Trang 62-72 - 1954
D. M. Brasher, A.H. Kingsbury
AbstractAn electrical capacitance method of estimating the water‐uptake of paint films on metal immersed in sea‐water has given, for many paint formulations, values agreeing with those obtained by a gravimetric method. For a few paints, however, pronounced disagreement was shown between values obtained by the two methods.Theoretical considerations ...... hiện toàn bộ
Investigations on organo‐tin compounds. VIII. preparation of some organo‐tin hydrides
Tập 7 Số 7 - Trang 366-369 - 1957
G. J. M. van der Kerk, J. G. NOLTES, J. G. A. Luijten
AbstractThe preparation, according to the slightly modified procedure of Finholt et al., of the following organo‐tin hydrides is described: triethyltin hydride, tri‐n‐propyltin hydride, tri‐n‐butyltin hydride, triphenyltin hydride, di‐n‐propyltin dihydride, d...... hiện toàn bộ
Influence of silica on the hydration of 3 CaO,SiO2
Tập 14 Số 8 - Trang 338-346 - 1964
H.N. Stein, J. M. Stevels
AbstractAmorphous silica accelerates the hydration rate of 3CaO,SiO2. This acceleration can be explained by assuming that the silica, by lowering calcium‐ and hydroxyl‐ion concentrations during the first minutes of the hydration, increases the conversion rate of a first protective hydrate layer into another less protective one....... hiện toàn bộ
Hydration of tricalcium silicate
Tập 17 Số 9 - Trang 246-250 - 1967
J. G. M. de Jong, H.N. Stein, J. M. Stevels
AbstractResults of following the quantities of free Ca(OH)2 and of tricalcium silicate (C3S) during the hydration of C3S, and also the influence of the presence of free CaO on this reaction are in accordance with the hypothesis of Stein & Stevels with regard to the hydration of C3... hiện toàn bộ
The preparation and properties of fractions from high density polyethylenes
Tập 14 Số 3 - Trang 131-140 - 1964
G. R. Williamson, Bryon E. Wright, R. N. Haward
AbstractA number of fractions have been prepared on a large scale from Ziegler 0·945‐density polyethylene and Phillips 0·96‐density polyethylene. Their physical properties have been compared with those of whole polymers having much broader distributions of molecular weight. It is shown that the main effects of narrowing the molecular‐weight distribution of polyethy...... hiện toàn bộ
Reactivity of lime and related oxides. I. Production of calcium oxide
Tập 8 Số 12 - Trang 793-797 - 1958
D. R. Glasson
AbstractThe calcination of calcium hydroxide and of calcium carbonate (precipitated or prepared from calcium oxalate monohydrate) has been studied by determining the changes occurring in the specific surface and lattice structure during each decomposition in vacuo or in air at a series of temperatures up to 900° or 1000°c.... hiện toàn bộ
Thermal stability of p‐phenylene sulphide polymers
Tập 17 Số 10 - Trang 269-275 - 1967
Robin M. Black, C. F. List, RJ Wells
AbstractThe thermal stability of a series of linear and branched p‐phenylene sulphide polymers at 350° has been evaluated by differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and weight‐loss studies. It has been concluded that there is some indication that the thermal stability increases with the degree of branching present in the...... hiện toàn bộ
The polyphosphates of calcium, strontium, barium and magnesium: Their complex character, composition and behaviour
Tập 4 Số 8 - Trang 419-429 - 1954
M. Bobtelsky, S. Kertes
AbstractA study of pyro‐ and tripoly‐phosphates, by heterometric (photometric study of suspensions), pH and conductometric methods, was made on a quantitative basis. From the curves obtained, the composition and properties of the salts and complexes, which exist in solution or in the solid state, were deduced. All three methods gave results that were in complete ac...... hiện toàn bộ
