Detecting immunoglobulin abnormalities in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF): Which methods are best for clinical purposes?Springer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 8 - Trang 237-243 - 1987
M. A. Laurenzi, L. Provinciali, A. R. Giovagnoli, Busco, V. Bocchini, L. Paris, F. Chiodi
Several techniques are now available for the quantitative and qualitative
examination of CSF proteins modified during the course of neurological disease.
The CSF and serum of 42 patients suffering from various neurological diseases
and of 7 controls were examined using quantitative methods-single radial
immunodiffusion, nephelometric analysis-and qualitative methods—(i)

Bilateral periventricular nodular heterotopia associated with coeliac disease and palatoschisisSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 19 - Trang 180-183 - 1998
D. Intiso, R. Cioffi, P. Di Viesti, P. Simone, P. Tonali
Periventricular nodular heterotopia (PNH) is considered a distinct entity in
relation to the other forms of neuronal migration disorders (NMD), because PNH
patients usually have normal neurological and mental examination results. We
report the case of a 48-year-old woman with bilateral periventricular nodular
heterotopia associated with epilepsy, coeliac disease, palatoschisis and other
dysmorphic... hiện toàn bộ
Avoidance conditioning in amnesia: a single case experimental studySpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 10 - Trang 193-198 - 1989
C. Blundo, C. Ricci
We present a single case study of avoidance conditioning in a seriously amnesic
patient with bilateral ischemic lesions of the brain. A four-path maze was used
for conditioning. The procedure consisted in an aversive stimulus that the
patient received every time he traced one of the four maze-paths connected to an
electric shock generator with a stylus. Using a single case experimental design

Endocrine function changes in young males during long-term antiepileptic therapy with phenobarbitone and carbamazepineSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 8 - Trang 331-336 - 1987
L. Rozza, A. Marcolla, G. Ferrari
The effects of long-term antiepileptic combined therapy with phenobarbitone (PB)
and carbamazepine (CBZ) on the major endocrine functions were evaluated in a
selected group of 15 young males with partial epilepsy. The plasma basal levels
of triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), free thyroxine (FT4), thyrotropin
(TSH), cortisol (CO), dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S),
adrenocorticotropin (AC... hiện toàn bộ
A new method for analyzing smooth-pursuit eye movementsSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 12 - Trang 537-544 - 1991
G. Zaccara, S. Baldini, P. F. Gangemi, A. Messori, A. Parigi, C. Nencioni
The study of ocular movements has been increasingly used to detect subtle
pathological modifications, caused by a wide variety of neurological diseases.
We have developed a new microcomputer-based method for the analysis of
smoothpursuit ocular movements induced by constant velocity targets moving
unpredictably at different velocities (including velocity values as high as 100
deg/s). The ocular mo... hiện toàn bộ
Aphasia and apraxia caused by ischemic damage to the white substance of the dominant hemisphereSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 10 - Trang 97-100 - 1989
I. Sanguineti, E. Agostoni, U. Aiello, P. Apale, G. Bogliun, M. Tagliabue
We describe a case of aphasia associated with ideomotor apraxia due to a
CT-proven ischemic lesion strictly confined to the dominant hemisphere white
substance at the junctional zone of Donnan. The aphasia did not fit any of the
known patterns. At first severe, it cleared in 5 days, while the apraxia
remained unchanged 25 days after onset.
Cardiovascular reflexes in Parkinson diseaseSpringer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 14 - Trang 437-442 - 1993
R. Martín, R. Manzanares, J. M. Moltó, T. Canet, C. Ruiz, J. Matías-Guiu
We have investigated the autonomic function of 95 patients with Parkinson
disease (PD) by testing their cardiovascular reflexes and compared the results
with those of 53 healthy volunteers. 51.1% of the patients were on
antiparkinsonian therapy. The patients showed a smaller heart rate response to
deep breathing with a mean exhalation-inspiration difference of 87.73±7 (p:
0.0005), a smaller heart ... hiện toàn bộ

We report 31 cases of herpes zoster (HZ) with neurological complications: 14
with cranial nerve deficits, 1 with cranial nerve deficit associated with
segmental motor disorder, 3 with segmental motor, deficits, 2 with
meningoencephalitis, 2 with meningoencephalitis associated with cranial
