Ways of reducing the sensitivity of hexogen-bearing explosives to mechanical loads
Springer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 31 - Trang 734-737 - 1995
Studies were conducted on reducing the sensitivity of fusible hexogen-bearing explosives to mechanical loads. It is shown that sensitivity can be reduced to the level of trotyl by diluting the explosive with trotyl and dinitronaphthalene, as well as by mixing it with oxyzine. A universal desensitizer — ethylene glycol — has been found for alloys of the TGA type. The addition of 5% ethylene glycol to the mixture also reduces sensitivity to the level of trotyl.

Dynamic synthesis of zirconium dioxide powders
Springer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 29 - Trang 740-743 - 1993
We investigated the process of zirconium dioxide powder synthesis by shock wave loading of a porous metal and the subsequent dispersion. The synthesized powder consists of hollow spherical shells and highly porous conglomerates with a 500 μm mean dimension. The specific surface of the powder is independent of the particle size and is 1.25±0.35 m2/g. The tetragonal modification predominates for large dimensions, while the monoclinic is more common in the small. The possibility of stabilizing the oxides in the high-temperature phase is investigated.

Equation of state model for metals with ionization effectively taken into account. Equation of state of tantalum, tungsten, aluminum, and beryllium
Springer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 49 - Trang 92-104 - 2013
A model of a wide-range semi-empirical equation of state for metals is presented. The specific heat and Grüneisen coefficients of ions and electrons are functions of temperature and density. At low temperatures, the heat capacity varies according to Debye theory. The removal of the degeneration of the electron gas with increasing temperature is taken into account. The effect of ionization on the thermodynamic functions is effectively taken into account. The equation of state allows the calculation of states in a two-phase liquid-vapor region. This model was used to develop the equations of state for Ta, W, Al, and Be. For its range of applicability, the equation of state contains a relatively small number of free parameters, most of which have a physical meaning. Comparison of calculations of various isolines using equations of state with experimental data and calculations based on other models show that the equations of state for Ta, W, Al, and Be, describe most experimental data for these substances. At ultrahigh pressures and temperatures, calculations using the equations of state are in good agreement with calculations using the Thomas-Fermi model with corrections.
Hot-Spot Ignition of a Reactive Gas in an Inert Porous Medium
Springer Science and Business Media LLC - Tập 41 - Trang 521-527 - 2005
The main stages of development of hot-spot ignition of a reactive gas in a high-porous medium with high values of the Peclet number under conditions of natural gas filtration and limited internal heat transfer between the phases are determined. Gas ignition in a U-shaped hot spot is considered within the framework of an asymptotic analysis with high values of the temperature difference and Frank-Kamenetskii parameter. The critical relation of parameters separating the regimes of gas ignition and gradual cooling of the hot spot is determined. The dependence of the ignition time on parameters of the process is found and analyzed. A strong effect of interphase heat transfer on the ignition limit and time is demonstrated. An example of calculating the critical parameters of hot-spot ignition of methane in processed rocks is given.
