The possibility of manufacturing smelting crucibles from industrial periclase with an MgO concentration of 94% has been shown. The most thermal-shock resistant material is that which contains 62% of fractions of 3-1 mm and 38% of <0.1 mm. The crucibles made from this material have satisfactory resistance during the melting of nickel in an induction furnace.
