Earth's surface heat flux Tập 1 Số 1 - Trang 5-24
J. H. Davies, D. Rhodri Davies
Abstract. We present a revised estimate of Earth's surface heat flux that is
based upon a heat flow data-set with 38 347 measurements, which is 55% more than
used in previous estimates. Our methodology, like others, accounts for
hydrothermal circulation in young oceanic crust by utilising a half-space
cooling approximation. For the rest of Earth's surface, we estimate the average
heat flow for dif... hiện toàn bộ
The seismo-hydromechanical behavior during deep geothermal reservoir stimulations: open questions tackled in a decameter-scale in situ stimulation experiment Tập 9 Số 1 - Trang 115-137

Saar, Simon Loew, Thomas Driesner, Hansruedi Maurer, Domenico Giardini
Abstract. In this contribution, we present a review of scientific research
results that address seismo-hydromechanically coupled processes relevant for the
development of a sustainable heat exchanger in low-permeability crystalline rock
and introduce the design of the In situ Stimulation and Circulation (ISC)
experiment at the Grimsel Test Site dedicated to studying such processes under
controlled... hiện toàn bộ
Soil erosion evolution and spatial correlation analysis in a typical karst geomorphology using RUSLE with GIS Tập 8 Số 4 - Trang 721-736
Chaoliu Zeng, Shijie Wang, Xiaoyong Bai, Yangbing Li, Yichao Tian, Yue Li, Longlong Wu, Guangjie Luo
Abstract. Although some scholars have studied soil erosion in karst landforms,
analyses of the spatial and temporal evolution of soil erosion and correlation
analyses with spatial elements have been insufficient. The lack of research has
led to an inaccurate assessment of environmental effects, especially in the
mountainous area of Wuling in China. Soil erosion and rocky desertification in
this ar... hiện toàn bộ
Extreme extension across Seram and Ambon, eastern Indonesia: evidence for Banda slab rollback Tập 4 Số 2 - Trang 277-314
Jonathan M. Pownall, Robert Hall, Ian M. Watkinson
Abstract. The island of Seram, which lies in the northern part of the
180°-curved Banda Arc, has previously been interpreted as a fold-and-thrust belt
formed during arc-continent collision, which incorporates ophiolites intruded by
granites thought to have been produced by anatexis within a metamorphic sole.
However, new geological mapping and a re-examination of the field relations
cause us to qu... hiện toàn bộ
Soil Atterberg limits of different weathering profiles of the collapsing gullies in the hilly granitic region of southern China Tập 8 Số 2 - Trang 499-513
Yusong Deng, Chongfa Cai, Dong Xia, Ding Shuwen, Jiazhou Chen, Tianwei Wang
Abstract. Collapsing gullies are one of the most serious soil erosion problems
in the tropical and subtropical areas of southern China. However, few studies
have been performed on the relationship of soil Atterberg limits with soil
profiles of the collapsing gullies. Soil Atterberg limits, which include plastic
limit and liquid limit, have been proposed as indicators for soil vulnerability
to degr... hiện toàn bộ
Numerical models of slab migration in continental collision zones Tập 3 Số 2 - Trang 293-306
Valentina Magni, Jeroen van Hunen, Francesca Funiciello, Claudio Faccenna
Abstract. Continental collision is an intrinsic feature of plate tectonics. The
closure of an oceanic basin leads to the onset of subduction of buoyant
continental material, which slows down and eventually stops the subduction
process. In natural cases, evidence of advancing margins has been recognized in
continental collision zones such as India-Eurasia and Arabia-Eurasia. We perform
a parametric... hiện toàn bộ
Folding and necking across the scales: a review of theoretical and experimental results and their applications Tập 7 Số 5 - Trang 1417-1465
Stefan M. Schmalholz, Neil S. Mancktelow
Abstract. The shortening and extension of mechanically layered ductile rock
generates folds and pinch-and-swell structures (also referred to as necks or
continuous boudins), which result from mechanical instabilities termed folding
and necking, respectively. Folding and necking are the preferred deformation
modes in layered rock because the corresponding mechanical work involved is less
than that ... hiện toàn bộ
A new theoretical interpretation of Archie's saturation exponent Tập 8 Số 4 - Trang 805-816
Paul Glover
Abstract. This paper describes the extension of the concepts of connectedness
and conservation of connectedness that underlie the generalized Archie's law for
n phases to the interpretation of the saturation exponent. It is shown that the
saturation exponent as defined originally by Archie arises naturally from the
generalized Archie's law. In the generalized Archie's law the saturation
exponent o... hiện toàn bộ
