Electrodiagnostic findings in acute porphyric neuropathyMuscle and Nerve - Tập 1 Số 4 - Trang 292-296 - 1978
James W. Albers, William C. Robertson, Jasper R. Daube
AbstractOf 115 patients with acute intermittent porphyria seen during a 20‐year
period, 11 had experienced an acute episode of quadriparesis. Nerve conduction
studies performed on 8 of these 11 patients showed lowamplitude compound action
potentials and normal velocity measurements. Needle electromyography
demonstrated prominent fibrillation potentials, especially in proximal muscles.

Dominantly inherited peroneal muscular atrophy (hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy type I) in infancy and childhoodMuscle and Nerve - Tập 4 Số 1 - Trang 26-30 - 1981
Michel Vanasse, Victor Dubowitz
AbstractA detailed clinical and electrodiagnostic study has been undertaken of
demyelinating polyneuropathy in 14 children (9 male, 5 female) from 11 sibships
and their parents. The onset of symptoms was before the age of 2 years in 12 of
the 14 children, and the condition in all cases was nonprogressive or very
slowly progressive. In each case one of the parents had a slow motor nerve
conduction ... hiện toàn bộ
A morphometric study of intrafascicular vessels of mammalian sciatic nerveMuscle and Nerve - Tập 7 Số 7 - Trang 524-534 - 1984
Mary Ann Bell, A. G. M. Weddell
AbstractIntrafascicular vessel profiles were measured with a Quantimet image
analyzer in 1‐μm transverse sections of sciatic nerves of rats and compared with
those of (“white”) skeletal muscle. Blood vessels occupy the same percentage of
the total tissue area in nerve and muscle tissues. The nerve, however, has much
larger capillaries (about 1.7 ×) spaced farther apart (about 2.5 ×). Comparison
of... hiện toàn bộ
Progressive motor neuron disease associated with electrical injuryMuscle and Nerve - Tập 14 Số 10 - Trang 977-980 - 1991
Michael Sirdofsky, Rollin J. Hawley, Herbert J. Manz
AbstractA patient in perfect health prior to electrical shock developed an
ALS‐like syndrome after the shock. Onset of the disease occurred in the limb
through which the shock entered, and subsequently followed a course
well‐described in previous case reports. Possible mechanisms of disease are
discussed.
Body mass index, not dyslipidemia, is an independent predictor of survival in amyotrophic lateral sclerosisMuscle and Nerve - Tập 44 Số 1 - Trang 20-24 - 2011
Sabrina Paganoni, Jing Deng, Matthew Jaffa, Merit Cudkowicz, Anne‐Marie Wills
AbstractIntroduction: Recent studies have provided conflicting data regarding
the role of dyslipidemia in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The aim of this
study was to determine whether cholesterol level are an independent predictor of
survival in ALS. Methods: Cholesterol levels were measured in 427 ALS subjects
from three clinical trial databases. Results: The LDL/HDL ratio did not decrease

Assay of diffusion of different botulinum neurotoxin type a formulations injected in the mouse legMuscle and Nerve - Tập 40 Số 3 - Trang 374-380 - 2009
Luca Carli, Cesare Montecucco, Ornella Rossetto
AbstractBotulinum neurotoxin type‐A (BoNT/A) is very effective in the therapy of
a wide range of human syndromes characterized by hyperactivity of peripheral
cholinergic nerve terminals. Little diffusion of this toxin from the site of
injection is commonly observed, but even minor changes in this property would
greatly affect the validity of the treatment. Different pharmacological
formulations of... hiện toàn bộ
Diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, and old age disabilityMuscle and Nerve - Tập 25 Số 1 - Trang 43-50 - 2002

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine whether peripheral neuropathy
explains the apparent association between diabetes and disability in old age,
and to evaluate the utility of lower extremity function tests in older diabetic
adults with and without neuropathy. We evaluated 39 adults, aged 70–79 years,
for pressure sensation (log10g), vibration perception threshold (VPT; microns),
and... hiện toàn bộ
Effects of different sensory inputs on the median‐derived somatosensory evoked potentialMuscle and Nerve - Tập 12 Số 7 - Trang 598-603 - 1989
Ricardo Reisin, Douglas S. Goodin, Michael J. Aminoff, Mary Mantle
AbstractWe studied the effect of a variety of “interfering” stimuli on the
median‐derived somatosensory evoked potentials recorded over Erb's point,
cervical spine, and scalp. We found that the amplitude of N20 and P27 recorded
over the scalp was attenuated by active movement, vibration, and tactile
stimulation of the ipsilateral hand but not by passive movement. Cervical and
peripheral responses ... hiện toàn bộ
