Recent advances in microfluidic actuation and micro-object manipulation by surface acoustic waves have been reviewed.
We engineer interconnected 3D vascular networks in hydrogels using molded sodium alginate lattice as sacrificial templates. The size and morphology of simulated vascular networks were well controlled and a fully-developed endothelial layer was formed.
In this paper, we developed a three-dimensional brain-on-a-chip with an interstitial level of flow. The chip contains an osmotic micropump system for providing interstitial flow and a concave microwell array for mimicking the brain's 3D cytoarchitecture.
