Gamma-Knife Radiosurgery of Meningiomas—Preliminary Results and ComplicationsJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 1 - Trang 35-42 - 1998

During 4 years we have treated 202 patients with meningiomas using the Leksell γ
knife. The results in 156 patients with a postoperative follow-up of at least 6
months were assessed. Collateral edema after radiosurgery occurred in 16
patients (10.3%), and in 8 patients it was asymptomatic. The collateral
postirradiation edema gradually improved in 14 patients. The tumor volume
increased in 10 pati... hiện toàn bộ
The Role of Stereotactic Radiosurgery in the Management of Benign, Atypical, and Malignant MeningiomasJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 2 - Trang 207-213 - 1999
Maciej S. Lesniak, Jeffery Williams
Stereotactic radiosurgery and fractionated Stereotactic radiotherapy (SR) offer
precise localization of radiation dose (Gy) for the treatment of meningioma (M).
For the multimodal treatment with preservation of function, SR is complementary
to both microsurgery (S) and conventional external beam radiotherapy (XRT). The
role of SR in the management of atypical and malignant meningiomas, however,

Localization and System Integration Tests as Quality Assurance for the Leksell γ-UnitJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 2 Số 4 - Trang 225-231 - 1999
Ertl, Adolf, Saringer, Walter, Bertalanffy, Alexander, Low, Hans G., Kindl, Peter
Quality control in stereotactic radiotherapy of brain lesions with the Leksell
γ-unit or the LINAC-facility is a must, as missing the target is the most
serious error that can occur in that kind of treatment. We developed a quality
assurance program to reduce this risk. To evaluate the accuracy of the
procedure, which defines the target, including all possible errors of the
therapy chain, irradiat... hiện toàn bộ

Leksell Frame Fixation Using Zygomatic Bone for Stereotactic RadiosurgeryJournal of Radiosurgery - - 1999
Masaaki Yamamoto, Mitsunobu Ide, Minoru Jimbo
The present report describes a unique frame fixation technique for γ-knife
radiosurgery that was used on a patient with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
located in the occipital pole. Because the patient had a relatively long head
and the nidus was located near the occipital pole, the nidus was out of the
coordinate frame indicator when applied in the routine frontal pin position.
Therefore, th... hiện toàn bộ
Two-Staged Radiosurgical Treatment of Large Arteriovenous MalformationsJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 3 - Trang 105-111 - 2000

When the size of an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in any one direction is
more than 4 cm, an attempt is made to treat it in two stages, separated by 6
months. The first stage treats one-half of the AVM and the remainder is treated
in the second stage, thus giving rise to a higher prescription dose for each
stage. Therefore, the AVM, as a whole, could be given a higher dose than if the
entire AV... hiện toàn bộ
Adjuvant γ-Knife Radiosurgery for a Resected Suprasellar Pituitary Adenoma with Atypical Immunohistochemistry: Case ReportJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 2 - Trang 33-39 - 1999
Gregory M. M Videtic, Kenneth J. Levin, Lucia Zamorano, William J. Kupsky
A resected suprasellar mass was found to be an ectopic pituitary adenoma on
light microscopy, but immunohistochemistry revealed unusual staining patterns.
Residual disease was demonstrated on postoperative studies and γ-knife
radiosurgery was used for treatment. The literature on ectopic pituitary tumors
was reviewed. We concluded that postoperative stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
for ectopic, sup... hiện toàn bộ
Long-Term Follow-Up of Brachytherapy in Untreated Malignant GliomaJournal of Radiosurgery - Tập 2 - Trang 129-133 - 1999

Objective: Long-term follow-up of patients with malignant glioma randomized to
treatment with and without brachytherapy. Methods: Twenty-six patients were
randomized to brachytherapy and external radiation, and 23 to external radiation
alone. There were 19 and 17 glioblastomas, and 3 and 8 anaplastic astrocytomas,
in the nonimplant and implant groups, respectively, and 1 malignant
oligodendrogliom... hiện toàn bộ
