Nature and frequency of dental wear facets in an Australian Aboriginal populationJournal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 20 Số 3 - Trang 333-340 - 1993
John Kaidonis, Lindsay Richards, Grant C. Townsend
The nature and frequency of dental wear facets were studied in a sample of 18‐year‐old Aborigines, 28 males and 31 females, living at Yuendumu in the Northern Territory of Australia. Facet frequencies were scored indirectly using dental models for all permanent teeth, except third molars, and evidence of non‐masticatory tooth grinding in eccentric jaw positions was also recorded. The inter...... hiện toàn bộ
A global perspective on changes in the burden of caries and periodontitis: implications for dentistry*Journal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 34 Số 12 - Trang 872-906 - 2007

Summary The structure and contents of most oral health care systems and the contents of dental curricula reflect a deep‐rooted tradition for attempting to cure oral diseases by refined technological means. However, better oral health conditions for the world’s populations necessitate the application of up‐to‐date scientific knowledge to control the major oral diseas...... hiện toàn bộ
International standardisation of the test of masticating and swallowing solids in childrenJournal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 46 Số 2 - Trang 161-169 - 2019

SummaryThe Test of Masticating and Swallowing Solids (TOMASS) is a validated assessment tool measuring the efficiency of solid bolus intake by four quantitative parameters: discrete bites, masticatory cycles, swallows and time to ingest a single cracker. A normative database for adults (20‐80+ years) has...... hiện toàn bộ
Occlusal dysfunction and stressJournal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 8 Số 1 - Trang 1-9 - 1981
Ejvind Budtz‐Jörgensen
SummaryA dysfunctional occlusal relationship was produced in six Macaca irus monkeys by insertion of occlusal splints which raised the vertical dimension of occlusion by 3–4 mm and incorporated interferences into the occlusion. Cortisol levels of plasma and 24 h urine samples were measured by competitive protein‐binding analysis. After insertion of the splints ther...... hiện toàn bộ
The effective minimum cement thickness of zinc phosphate cement for luted non‐precious crownsJournal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 12 Số 3 - Trang 235-245 - 1985
Rafael Grajower, Israel Lewinstein, C. Zeltser
SummaryNon‐precious metal crowns were prepared for natural teeth which were ground to a taper angle of 5°. The movement of the crowns on teeth during repeated try‐on seating was measured with a micrometer. Increasing the applied load from 2 to 10 kg resulted in an average crown movement of 63 μm. For most samples this movement continued when try‐on was repeated. Ca...... hiện toàn bộ
The prevalence of non‐carious cervical lesions in permanent dentitionJournal of Oral Rehabilitation - Tập 31 Số 2 - Trang 117-123 - 2004
Josipa Borčić, Ivica Anić, Miranda Muhvić Urek, Silvio Ferreri
summary A non‐carious cervical lesion (NCCL) is the loss of hard dental tissue on the neck of the tooth, most frequently located on the vestibular plane. Causal agents are diverse and mutually interrelated. In the present study all vestibular NCCL were observed and recorded by the tooth wear index (TWI). The aim of the study was to determine the p...... hiện toàn bộ

SummaryIn 2013, consensus was obtained on a definition of bruxism as repetitive masticatory muscle activity characterised by clenching or grinding of the teeth and/or by bracing or thrusting of the mandible and specified as either sleep bruxism or awake bruxism. In addition, a grading system was proposed to determine the likelihood that a certain assessment of brux...... hiện toàn bộ

SummaryTo date, there is no consensus about the definition and diagnostic grading of bruxism. A written consensus discussion was held among an international group of bruxism experts as to formulate a definition of bruxism and to suggest a grading system for its operationalisation. The expert group defined bruxism as a repetitive jaw‐muscle activity characterised by...... hiện toàn bộ
