Propagation of radio waves across a velocity discontinuity in a zero temperature plasma

A non-relativistic treatment of the investigated effect is given. It is shown that a transverse wave incident on the interface of a velocity discontinuity generates reflected and transmitted waves. The intensities of reflected and transmitted electric fields are calculated.
Single-phonon contribution to the hopping conductivity of amorphous solids

The electronic d.c. hopping conductivity of amorphous materials is calculated exactly up to the second power of the coupling constant of electrons and acoustic phonons. Its temperature dependence is discussed.
The study of cluster phenomenon at accelerator energies

Correlation between the particles from the proton-nucleus interactions in emulsion at 70 GeV/c is presented through the study of the rapidity gap analysis and compared with the two-particle rapidity correlations. It is observed that the strength of correlation decreases as the size of cluster increases. Asymmetry between the forward and backward components were also studied.

Deposition of organic polymers at higher substrate temperatures in atmospheric pressure glow discharge

The atmospheric pressure glow discharge burning in nitrogen with small admixture of organosilicon compounds such as hexamethyldisilazane (HMDSN) or hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) was used for the deposition of thin organosilicon polymer films at deposition temperatures up to 120 °C. The properties of the discharge were studied by means of optical emission spectroscopy and electrical measurements. Mechanical properties of deposited films were characterised by depth sensing indentation technique, optical properties were measured by means of ellipsometry. The films were polymer-like, transparent in visible range and without pinholes.
On the theory of “true” three particle scattering

The Hulthen, Kohn and Schwinger-type variational principles for the phase of “true” three particle scattering is formulated using the method of the hyperspherical basis. The optical theorem for such processes is proved.
A simplified model joining the sheath and the plasma in electronegative plasmas

An extension of the previous work which only dealt with the sheath zone is used to analyze the wall-plasma interaction in electronegative plasmas. Ionization is introduced as the presheath mechanism. This extension includes the joining of the sheath and the plasma solutions. For certain plasma parameters a stratified presheath is obtained. In this case, the plasma and the sheath solutions are matched in a very simplified way, by introducing a discontinuity in the electric field. This discontinuity is equivalent to consideration of a negatively charged layer between the presheath and the sheath. The parameter space region in which this matching should be made has been delimited. The model includes the previous one in the limiting case of no ionization.
An “active” target for spin physics: polarizing nuclei in plastic scintillators

Polarized scintillating targets are now routinely available: protons, deuterons or other nuclei in blocks of scintillating organic polymer, doped with the free radical TEMPO, have been polarized dynamically in a field of 2.5 T in a vertical 3He−4He dilution refrigerator. A 19 mm diameter plastic lightguide carries the scintillation light from the sample in the mixing chamber to a photomultiplier outside the cryostat.
