The safety and effectiveness of simultaneous bilateral extracapsular cataract extraction were investigated in a retrospective review of 211 consecutive patients (422 eyes). Patients underwent bilateral extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber lens implantation in one operative session using general endotracheal anesthesia. The procedures were treated as 2 separate operations. The c...... hiện toàn bộ
Bilateral total retinal detachment in an infant with down syndromeAnnals of Ophthalmology - Tập 37 - Trang 295-297 - 2005
Nariko Ikeda, Seiji Hayasaka, Shuichiro Yanagisawa, Yoriko Hayasaka
An infant with trisomy 21 had markedly sluggish pupillary reaction to light, cataracts, funnel-shaped membranes extending from the optic discs, as seen on ultrasonography, and nonrecordable electroretinographic responses in both eyes. Bilateral total retinal detachment, possibly caused by child abuse, in an infant with Down syndrome may be uncommon.
Corneal hysteresis following descemetorhexis with endokeratoplastyAnnals of Ophthalmology - Tập 39 - Trang 9-14 - 2007
Thomas John, David A. Taylor, Mitsugu Shimmyo, Bruce E. Siskowski
The corneal biomechanical properties following descemetorhexis with endokeratoplasty (DXEK) and in normal subjects were studied in 100 eyes (12 DXEK and 88 age-matched normal subjects). Corneal hysteresis measurements were significantly lower in DXEK vs normal subjects. DXEK has a direct effect on corneal hysteresis and corneal biomechanical properties of the human cornea.
Indocyanine green angiography in diagnosis of ciliary artery occlusionAnnals of Ophthalmology - Tập 33 - Trang 139-140 - 2001
Michaella Goldstein, Saul Merin, Moshe Lazar, Anat Loewenstein
Indocyanine green (ICG) angiography was used in the diagnosis of a unilateral ciliary artery occlusion in a 67-year-old man. He had an old ciliary artery occlusion in his left eye, demonstrated funduscopically by a large area of geographic atrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium. The total choroidal hypofluorescence seen on ICG angiograms differentially favored the diagnosis of a choroidal filli...... hiện toàn bộ
Vitrectomy for Treatment of Macular Hole in Diabetic RetinopathyAnnals of Ophthalmology - Tập 39 - Trang 340-342 - 2007
Hua Yan, Jing Cui, Yingjuan Lu, Jinguo Yu, Jingkai Zhang, Song Chen, Yinghai Xu
We evaluated the efficacy of vitrectomy for treatment of macular hole in 12 patients with diabetic retinopathy. Macular hole closure, improvement in visual acuity, and retinal attachment rates were all 83%. Postoperative complications included temporary intraocular pressure elevation (2), nuclear sclerosis (3), and retinal redetachment (2). Vitrectomy is an effective and safe method for treating m...... hiện toàn bộ
Central Retinal Vein Occlusion Secondary to Protein S DeficiencyAnnals of Ophthalmology - Tập 39 - Trang 343-344 - 2007
Yew Chong Yap, Faye Barampouti
We present a case of protein S deficiency causing central retinal vein occlusion treated with anticoagulation, which includes heparin followed by oral warfarin therapy. This article highlights the importance of looking for other possible causes of central retinal vein occlusion, especially in younger patients with negative initial investigations.
