Tóm tắtKhái niệm kinh tế tuần hoàn (CE) đã trở thành một mối quan tâm lớn đối với các công ty, hứa hẹn mang lại những cơ hội kinh doanh mới và giảm thiểu tác động đến môi trường. Mặc dù nghiên cứu về các mô hình kinh doanh tuần hoàn đã gia tăng đáng kể trong thời gian gần đây, nhưng chỉ có một số học giả đã khảo sát cách mà các công ty tham gia vào CE nhìn nhận mối liên hệ giữa CE và bền vững. Để giải quyết vấn đề này, bài báo sử dụng khảo sát bán định lượng và các cuộc phỏng vấn bán cấu trúc được thực hiện với các công ty có trụ sở tại Ý và Hà Lan. Phương pháp lấy mẫu có mục đích được sử dụng để nhắm tới các công ty liên quan đến các mạng lưới CE quốc gia và quốc tế, vì những công ty này đã thực hiện các thực hành CE. Khảo sát được phân phối trực tuyến cho hơn 800 công ty, trong đó 155 công ty đã cung cấp thông tin về hiểu biết của họ về khái niệm CE và mối quan hệ với bền vững. Kết quả khảo sát được bổ sung bởi các phát hiện từ 43 cuộc phỏng vấn với một nhóm nhỏ của những người trả lời khảo sát. Câu trả lời từ khảo sát cho thấy các công ty coi CE như một trong những công cụ để đạt được phát triển bền vững, đặc biệt trong lĩnh vực môi trường, nơi mà sự chú trọng nằm ở việc sử dụng tài nguyên thân thiện với môi trường. Tuy nhiên, những người trả lời khảo sát ít tự tin hơn về việc CE có tăng cường lợi ích kinh tế và xã hội cho các công ty hay không. Các cuộc phỏng vấn cho thấy phần lớn người trả lời đặt bền vững ở vị trí khái niệm bao trùm. Tuy nhiên, hầu hết các công ty cho rằng khu vực tư nhân nên nỗ lực cho cả bền vững và tuần hoàn, mặc dù sự phân biệt giữa hai khái niệm này trong các hoạt động kinh doanh hàng ngày dường như là giả tạo và vô nghĩa đối với một số người. Những phát hiện này cung cấp một bước đệm quan trọng trong việc hiểu rõ hơn cách mà các công ty có thể áp dụng các thực hành CE để tiến tới một xã hội bền vững hơn.
