Các báo cáo gần đây về một số chủng Staphylococcus aureus kháng methicillin (MRSA) với độ nhạy giảm với vancomycin đã trở thành mối quan tâm lớn ở Hàn Quốc do việc sử dụng rộng rãi vancomycin liên quan đến tỷ lệ mắc MRSA cao tại quốc gia này. Chúng tôi mô tả một bệnh nhân nam 45 tuổi bị áp xe vùng chậu kéo dài do MRSA. Mặc dù đã điều trị bằng vancomycin và teicoplanin trong một khoảng thời gian dài, bệnh nhân đã qua đời do nhiễm trùng huyết MRSA. Chủng MRSA trong cấy máu cho thấy độ nhạy giảm đối với vancomycin (MIC, 8 μg/ml). Đây là báo cáo đầu tiên về trường hợp S. aureus trung gian với vancomycin từ Hàn Quốc.
