Các điều kiện thủy văn và phân bố của cá vược ôn đới thanh nữ Lateolabrax japonicus được quan sát vào đầu mùa xuân từ năm 2009 đến năm 2012 tại cửa sông Yura, nơi có sự phân tầng cao do thủy triều nhỏ và sự xâm nhập của nước biển vào lớp đáy của sông dưới dạng một mảnh muối. Trong cả bốn năm được nghiên cứu, sự mở rộng về phía thượng nguồn của sự phân bố của chúng trùng khớp với thời điểm xâm nhập của mảnh muối từ phần dưới lên phần trên của cửa sông, cho thấy rằng cá non đã sử dụng sự xâm nhập của mảnh muối để di chuyển lên thượng nguồn vào đầu mùa xuân.
