Tổn thương DNA do methylmethane sulfonate, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin và procarbazine gây ra trong các tế bào mầm đực đã được đánh giá ở thỏ thông qua việc chứng minh tổng hợp DNA không theo lịch trình (UDS) trong các giai đoạn chín giác quan và sau giác quan. Ngay sau khi điều trị qua đường tĩnh mạch, thymidine có gắn triti được tiêm vào cả hai tinh hoàn. Sau đó, thỏ đã được xuất tinh theo chuỗi, đầu tinh trùng được tách ra và thử nghiệm độ phóng xạ bằng phương pháp đếm scintillation lỏng. UDS phụ thuộc vào liều lượng đã được chứng minh ở các tế bào spermatocyte muộn và spermatid sớm. Liều cao của hycanthone cũng gây ra UDS, nhưng isoniazid và metronidazole không có tác dụng.
