Tình trạng nhận diện Rhesus (Rh) là một thực thể lâm sàng quan trọng ở Ấn Độ và các nước đang phát triển khác, chịu trách nhiệm cho tình trạng thiếu máu ở thai nhi và tình trạng thủy thai, và nếu không được điều trị, nó có thể dẫn đến cái chết trong tử cung của thai nhi. Tình trạng nhận diện Rh cũng gây ra tình trạng vàng da nặng ở trẻ sơ sinh, có thể nghiêm trọng đến mức gây ra kernicterus với những hậu quả tàn phế, nếu không được điều trị đúng mức. Nó có thể được phòng ngừa bằng các biện pháp đơn giản và được điều trị nếu được nhận diện kịp thời.
