Cả các nghiên cứu hình ảnh chức năng hoặc nghiên cứu EEG và các nghiên cứu bao gồm bệnh nhân thần kinh đều cho thấy vỏ não trán bên (dLPFC) là một khu vực quan trọng của não trong việc xử lý cảm xúc và sự chú ý. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu hiện tại là điều tra xem cảm xúc và sự chú ý có thể được điều chỉnh thông qua kích thích dòng điện trực tiếp hai bên (tDCS) của dLPFC hay không.
