Phản ứng không thích ứng với stress ở những cá nhân có đặc điểm ADHD cao có thể là yếu tố quan trọng giải thích các triệu chứng ADHD đồng diễn và các vấn đề nội tâm. Nghiên cứu hiện tại điều tra xem sự khác biệt giữa các cá nhân về đặc điểm ADHD có liên quan đến sự khác biệt trong sự kết nối theo từng khoảnh khắc giữa stress và cảm xúc tiêu cực hay không; và liệu điều này có thể giải thích sự khác biệt giữa các cá nhân về các vấn đề nội tâm hay không (N = 262, độ tuổi trung vị 20). Kết quả từ một mô hình cấu trúc động cho thấy rằng sự khác biệt giữa các cá nhân về đặc điểm ADHD đã điều chỉnh có ý nghĩa mối liên hệ trong cuộc sống hàng ngày giữa stress và cảm xúc tiêu cực.
