Đánh giá xem liệu một chế phẩm bổ sung vi chất dinh dưỡng bao gồm một lượng lớn axit béo không bão hòa omega-3, các chất chống oxy hóa khác và coenzyme Q10 có ảnh hưởng đến các tham số huyết thanh cụ thể ở phụ nữ mắc hội chứng buồng trứng đa nang (PCOS) hay không. Nghiên cứu được thiết kế như một thử nghiệm đơn trung tâm, ngẫu nhiên, đối chứng, mù đôi, từ tháng 6 năm 2017 đến tháng 3 năm 2018 (ID thử nghiệm lâm sàng: NCT03306745). Sáu mươi phụ nữ mắc PCOS được phân vào nhóm "bổ sung đa vi chất" (một viên nang mềm không nhãn hiệu chứa axit béo omega-3 và một viên nén không nhãn hiệu chứa axit folic, selenium, vitamin E, catechin, glycyrrhizin và coenzyme Q10, trong 3 tháng) hoặc nhóm "đối chứng" (hai viên nang mềm không nhãn hiệu chứa 200 μg axit folic mỗi viên, trong 3 tháng). Các tham số đầu ra chính là hormone chống Mullerian (AMH), testosterone tổng và androstenedione. Bên cạnh đó, nghiên cứu chú trọng đến hormone kích thích LH, hormone kích thích nang FSH, tỷ lệ LH:FSH, globulin gắn hormone sinh dục (SHBG) và estradiol. Ở nhóm bổ sung đa vi chất, tỷ lệ LH:FSH (2.5 ± 1.1 so với 1.9 ± 0.5, p = 0.001), testosterone (0.50 ± 0.19 so với 0.43 ± 0.15, p = 0.001) và AMH (8.2 ± 4.2 so với 7.3 ± 3.6, p < 0.001) đều giảm có ý nghĩa thống kê, trong khi các tham số khác, cụ thể là estradiol, LH, FSH, androstenedione và SHBG vẫn ổn định. Việc bổ sung vi chất dinh dưỡng bao gồm axit béo omega-3, axit folic, selenium, vitamin E, catechin, glycyrrhizin và coenzyme Q10, khi được áp dụng trong tối thiểu 3 tháng, mang lại lợi ích cho phụ nữ mắc PCOS về mặt các tham số đặc thù của PCOS (tỷ lệ LH:FSH, testosterone huyết thanh và AMH huyết thanh).
