Virus lùn lúa mạch vàng (BYDV) là nguyên nhân gây thiệt hại nặng nề đến năng suất của tất cả các loại ngũ cốc trên toàn thế giới. Gen Yd2 từ một số giống lúa mạch Ethiopia (Hordeum vulgare L.) đã được chứng minh là phương thức hiệu quả nhất để cung cấp khả năng kháng lại BYDV trong lúa mạch trồng. Sự phân lập gen Yd2 sẽ cho phép xác định cơ sở phân tử của tương tác Yd2-BYDV. Bài báo này mô tả giai đoạn đầu tiên trong một dự án nhằm phân lập gen này: xây dựng bản đồ liên kết chi tiết của vùng Yd2. Bản đồ này bao gồm 27,6 centiMorgan (cM) của nhiễm sắc thể thứ 3 và chứa 19 vị trí RFLP, 2 vị trí dấu hiệu hình thái, tâm động và gen Yd2. Trong quần thể bản đồ gồm 106 cá thể F2, Yd2 tương ứng hoàn hảo với các vị trí RFLP Xwg889 và XYlp, cả hai đều nằm trên nhánh dài, cách tâm động 0,5 cM. Hai vị trí dấu hiệu hình thái, uzu dwarf và white stripe j, đều nằm phía xa Yd2. Sản phẩm protein của gen tại vị trí XYlp sẽ cung cấp một phương pháp kiểm tra thuận tiện cho việc chọn lọc Yd2 trong quá trình nhân giống các giống lúa mạch kháng BYDV.
