Mục đíchBài báo này nhằm nghiên cứu mối quan hệ có thể có giữa các yếu tố tính cách được đo bằng chỉ số loại Myers‐Briggs (MBTI) và lãnh đạo chuyển đổi (TL) được đo bằng Bảng câu hỏi lãnh đạo đa yếu tố (MLQ).Thiết kế/phương pháp/tiếp cậnNghiên cứu được thực hiện tại cơ sở sản xuất Bắc Mỹ của một công ty công nghệ quốc tế. Sử dụng Bảng câu hỏi lãnh đạo đa yếu tố để đo lường lãnh đạo chuyển đổi, hơn 2,000 người theo dõi đã cung cấp các đánh giá về lãnh đạo chuyển đổi cho 148 nhà quản lý đã thực hiện đánh giá bản thân và hoàn thành Mẫu K của MBTI.Kết quảKhông tìm thấy mối quan hệ nào giữa các đánh giá của người theo dõi về lãnh đạo chuyển đổi và tính cách của nhà lãnh đạo được đo bằng MBTI. Tuy nhiên, các nhà lãnh đạo nhận thức bản thân là có tính chuyển đổi hơn so với những người báo cáo cho họ. Sở thích của nhà lãnh đạo đối với sự hướng ngoại hơn tính hướng nội và trực giác hơn cảm nhận đều có liên quan đáng kể đến các báo cáo tự đánh giá về lãnh đạo chuyển đổi.Giới hạn/ý nghĩa nghiên cứuCần các nghiên cứu sử dụng mẫu lớn trong nhiều bối cảnh tổ chức khác nhau để xác nhận kết quả của nghiên cứu này.Ý nghĩa thực tiễnNghiên cứu này nghi ngờ sự tồn tại của một mối quan hệ giữa MBTI và lãnh đạo chuyển đổi. Nghiên cứu không cung cấp bất kỳ hỗ trợ nào cho khả năng hữu ích của MBTI trong việc dự đoán hoặc giải thích các hành vi lãnh đạo chuyển đổi. Giả định rằng nhận thức của người theo dõi về TL là chính xác hơn, các phát hiện gợi ý rằng các kết quả trước đây liên kết MBTI và TL có thể chỉ là những tác phẩm đo lường.Tính độc đáo/giá trịSử dụng một mẫu lớn, MLQ và các biện pháp liên tục về sở thích MBTI, kết quả của nghiên cứu này mâu thuẫn với các báo cáo trước đó về mối quan hệ giữa tính cách được đo bằng MBTI và lãnh đạo chuyển đổi.
