Tóm tắtGiang mai là một bệnh do vi khuẩn lây truyền qua đường tình dục, có liên quan đến thai kỳ vì nó có khả năng gây ra bệnh giang mai bẩm sinh nếu xảy ra tại bất kỳ thời điểm nào trong thai kỳ. Gần đây, đã có báo cáo về sự gia tăng các trường hợp giang mai ở phụ nữ và do đó là giang mai bẩm sinh trên toàn thế giới. 40% các trường hợp có thể dẫn đến sảy thai tự phát, thai chết lưu, bệnh phù không miễn dịch, hạn chế tăng trưởng thai nhi và tử vong chu sinh, cũng như các di chứng nghiêm trọng ở trẻ em sống sót bị nhiễm bệnh. Các biến chứng thai kỳ có thể được tránh bằng việc phát hiện và điều trị sớm trong thời gian khám thai. Tất cả phụ nữ mang thai nên được sàng lọc giang mai trong lần khám thai đầu tiên. Hiện tại chưa có tiêu chuẩn vàng cho các xét nghiệm chẩn đoán giang mai. Một sự kết hợp của các xét nghiệm huyết thanh học bao gồm xét nghiệm treponemal và xét nghiệm không treponemal được sử dụng để chẩn đoán. Sàng lọc bằng các xét nghiệm không treponemal như xét nghiệm plasma kháng thể nhanh hoặc xét nghiệm phòng thí nghiệm nghiên cứu bệnh lây truyền qua đường tình dục kết hợp với việc xác nhận những cá nhân phản ứng dương tính bằng các xét nghiệm treponemal như xét nghiệm hấp thụ kháng thể treponemal huỳnh quang là phương pháp chi phí hiệu quả thông thường. Những đối tượng có nguy cơ nên được kiểm tra lại trong tam cá nguyệt thứ ba. Việc điều trị trong thai kỳ nên sử dụng penicillin phụ thuộc vào giai đoạn nhiễm bệnh của thai phụ. Tất cả trẻ sơ sinh sinh ra từ những bà mẹ có kết quả xét nghiệm không treponemal và treponemal dương tính nên được đánh giá.
