Mục đích của bài báo này là trình bày các biểu đồ ổn định mái dốc cho các mái dốc đất hai lớp bằng cách sử dụng phương pháp giảm cường độ (SRM). Tập trung chính là cung cấp ước tính định lượng về sự cải thiện độ ổn định mái dốc khi một lớp đất mạnh hơn được đặt lên trên lớp đất yếu hơn. Phương pháp SRM trong công trình này bao gồm một loạt các phân tích giới hạn dưới (LB) và giới hạn trên (UB) bằng phần tử hữu hạn kết hợp với tối ưu hóa không tuyến tính. Không giống như phương pháp cân bằng giới hạn (LEM), không cần phải xem xét bất kỳ giả định nào trước đó về bề mặt thất bại trong SRM. Nghiên cứu được thực hiện cho các kết hợp khác nhau của (i) góc mái dốc (β), (ii) tính chất cường độ của lớp trên và lớp dưới (c, ϕ) và (iii) độ dày khác nhau của lớp trên. Các mô hình thất bại được chỉ ra cho một số trường hợp.
