(b) We should like to draw attention to the erroneous implication contained in the last sentence of the penultimate paragraph of reference 11(a). Schellman does not neglect the role of the solvent in his discussions but does not consider it necessary to take special account as is proper in the cases he treats of the entropy arising from solvent immobilization. In our view this must be done in the case of much heavier solvating molecules and therein lies the explanation at the molecular level of the negative entropy of denaturation.
