Nghiên cứu này tập trung vào mối quan hệ giữa các mối quan hệ không chính thức, đạo đức làm việc và sự vắng mặt (ngắn hạn). Các giả thuyết đã được kiểm tra trong hai tổ chức ở Hà Lan: nghiên cứu 1 liên quan đến một công ty nhà ở (n=53, tám nhóm), và nghiên cứu 2 liên quan đến một viện dưỡng lão (n=97, chín nhóm). Như mong đợi, sự đồng thuận trong đạo đức làm việc và sự gắn kết trong một nhóm có mối quan hệ tích cực. Kết quả từ các phân tích đa cấp cho thấy như mong đợi, có một mối quan hệ tiêu cực giữa sự gắn kết trong một nhóm và sự vắng mặt ngắn hạn của nhân viên. Hơn nữa, một hiệu ứng tương tác đã được tìm thấy trong nghiên cứu đầu tiên, nhưng không trong nghiên cứu thứ hai: nhóm càng gắn kết, các mối quan hệ giữa đạo đức làm việc và sự vắng mặt ngắn hạn càng mạnh.
