Tóm tắt Các loài bò sát kỳ lạ có nguồn gốc từ tự nhiên có thể mang theo nhiều loại mầm bệnh khác nhau và một số trong số đó có thể lây nhiễm cho con người. Các loài bò sát được nhập khẩu vào Slovenia từ năm 2000 đến 2005, các mẫu của các loài bản địa được thu thập từ tự nhiên và các loài nhân tạo nuôi trong điều kiện giam giữ đã được điều tra. Tổng cộng có 949 con bò sát (55 rắn, 331 thằn lằn và 563 rùa), thuộc 68 loài khác nhau, đã được kiểm tra sự hiện diện của ký sinh trùng nội và ngoại. Mười hai nhóm ký sinh trùng nội khác nhau (Nematoda (5), Trematoda (1), Acanthocephala (1), Pentastomida (1) và Protozoa (4)) đã được xác định trong 26 (47,3%) trong số 55 con rắn được kiểm tra. Ở các con rắn, cũng đã tìm thấy hai loài ký sinh trùng ngoại khác nhau. Giữa các thằn lằn được thử nghiệm, mười tám nhóm ký sinh trùng nội khác nhau (Nematoda (8), Cestoda (1), Trematoda (1), Acanthocephala (1), Pentastomida (1) và Protozoa (6)) đã được xác định trong 252 (76,1%) trong số 331 con vật được kiểm tra. Một ký sinh trùng ngoại thuộc nhóm Trombiculidae đã được xác định. Trong 563 con rùa được kiểm tra, tám nhóm ký sinh trùng nội khác nhau (Nematoda (4), Cestoda (1), Trematoda (1) và Protozoa (2)) đã được tìm thấy trong 498 (88,5%) con vật. Trong các con rùa được kiểm tra, ba loài ký sinh trùng ngoại khác nhau cũng đã được quan sát thấy. Sự hiện diện phổ biến của các loại ký sinh trùng khác nhau trong các loài bò sát được sử dụng làm thú cưng cho thấy nhu cầu phải kiểm tra các mầm bệnh cụ thể trước khi đưa chúng đến tay người nuôi.
