Derzeit werden in der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Forschung mit zunehmender Intensität neurowissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und Methoden hinzugezogen, um die Zustände und Prozesse der ,,Black Box“ des menschlichen Gehirns vor, während und nach ökonomischen Entscheidungen präziser erklären zu können. Dieser Beitrag zielt darauf ab, die Grundlagen des sich hieraus entwickelnden Wissenschaftszweigs der Neuroökonomie zu erläutern. Dabei werden die zugrunde liegenden neurowissenschaftlichen Methoden erläutert, Anwendungsfelder innerhalb der Betriebswirtschaftslehre abgegrenzt sowie eine kritische Würdigung des momentanen Entwicklungsstands vorgenommen. Hiermit wird insbesondere die Zielsetzung verfolgt, die Neuroökonomie für eine größere Anzahl von Wissenschaftlern der Forschungsdisziplin Betriebswirtschaftslehre zugänglich zu machen.
