Chăm sóc tập trung vào người bệnh mang tính đồng cảm là trung tâm của các buổi gặp gỡ chăm sóc sức khỏe chất lượng cao. Thang đo Tư vấn và Đồng cảm Quan hệ (CARE) là một công cụ đánh giá trải nghiệm được bệnh nhân đánh giá chất lượng can thiệp liên nhân. Công cụ này đã được xác thực rộng rãi và được các bác sĩ trong chăm sóc sức khỏe ban đầu sử dụng nhưng chưa được xác thực trong điều dưỡng. Nghiên cứu này đánh giá tính hợp lệ và độ tin cậy của Thang đo CARE trong các buổi tư vấn điều dưỡng thông thường trong chăm sóc sức khỏe ban đầu. Mười bảy điều dưỡng viên từ chín cơ sở y tế tổng quát nằm trong ba Ban Y tế Scotland đã tham gia nghiên cứu.
